Why do so many people like this place?. Walking inside takes me back to the 80’s with the horrendous dcor. The steak is decent, but not a top 5 in Wichita by any means. The sides appear to be something poured out of a can. If you are going for nasty, dated hole-in-the wall dcor with canned corn for a side Town and County is cheaper and has a better steak. Plus T&C makes no qualms about being more diner-ish. S&S tries to pull off the upscale thing and fails miserably. If you really want quality and a nice atmosphere, try Chester’s.
I had lunch with a friend. I ordered the hamburger steak with mushroom gravy. It was cooked properly but just seasoning just the outside of basically a large thick hamburger patty is not enough. As for the almost tasteless mushroom gravy, I would like more than two mushroom slices and make them fresh not canned. Although a great place for dinner, lunch is not good. U expect more from one of Wichita’s so called premier restaurants.
Ate a steak and it was about the same quality as a steakhouse half the price. Service was bad and the atmosphere was designed for my grandfather. I won’t go back.
I am shocked by the number of people on here that don’t like this fine restaurant. Camie was an awesome waitress. The food was perfect. When I am in Wichita, I will be back. The waitresses were dressed pleasantly sexy. They showed little cleavage and wore mini skirts. Unless we are back on the 60s. I would say this is a family restaurant I could bring my girls and my wife here and they would not be offended.
Great food, atmosphere; adequate service. Hit S&S for our New Years Eve meal. This was my first visit, having just moved to Wichita.Pros: Had the Chateaubriand for Two, and it was fabulous. The Sterling Silver steaks were cooked to perfection with excellent mushrooms, baked potatoes and veggies. Nice wines and a great atmosphere.Cons: The waitress was unfamiliar with drink requests and seemed a little green for a high ticket restaurant.Though I’d been told that they typically flash the chateaubriand at the table, the waitress said she’d find someone to light it. After being told to wait for her to get someone, we just pushed ahead, still enjoying our fabulous steak.
Not even acknowleged. Was seated at 8:30 this evening near the bar.8:37 a quick nod from a waitress..8:45 no one had even stopped by to say hello or take a drink order.Won’t be back.
This used to be one of the nicest places in town and you never had to worry about how your steak was cooked. Not only now do you need to be concerned with how your steak is cooked but if it’s quality or not. Last time we were there the food actually made us sick. Service has fallen way off as well. My company has spent a lot of money there over the years but we are all in agreement that we won’t be back.
