This place is filthy. This is more of a public service announcement than a review. If you are thinking of eating there, don’t. Just in the immediate area around our table, I saw no less than a dozen or so health code violations. We will not be going back ever. Totally gross.
I recently visited Sumo for Valentines Day on Sunday and also my best friend and her husband. I am a frequent customer. My husband and I come 2-3 times a month and sometimes more! However yesterday was the worst experience ever. My cook was horrible. My rice was dry, crunchy and had way too much burnt garlic. My vegetables were all burnt. I was asked how I wanted my lobster and salmon cooked as far as medium and well, it was neither. My husbands steak was under cooked and my best friends was over cooked. He was sloppy and not attentive to his food. To top it off the manager of the evening did not even apologize when I complained. Never offered to replace my meal. All she did was take only my rice off the ticket. I have spent so much money there in the past that I am floored the manager couldn’t have refunded my meal. I was asked if I wanted to take it to go, which only upset me more. I will never come back and let that cook serve me again. I will advise all my friends to request other cooks or don’t go because he ruined my food and experience. He was very nice but he sucks. This is not the first time I have had him cook, all were bad but this I couldn’t even eat. He is older and tall, and wears glasses.
Love the food here. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Very fun atmosphere as well. Very busy place so be prepared to wait for awhile. You won’t be disappointed.
Always have a great experience here! This place is a very popular spot in Wichita, Kansas so be prepared to wait a bit to be seated – trust me, it’s worth it! Sumo’s is a Japanese steakhouse with tabletop hibachi cooking stations. Customers sit around the cooktops and actually get to watch your meal cook and transform in front of your eyes! Sumo’s also has a bar that serves unique, yummy cocktails – and they have a section where you can order sushi. This place rocks!
Call ahead seating. What a joke.. We called a week ago to set up 730 seating. Although they said they couldn’t guarantee the time they would get close. We got there n were told hour n half. That’s not close. Customer service not good. We lef . Pf Chang rocks though…they were able to accommodate within 20 mins.
Sushi not very good. Better sushi at dillons!!
I don’t understand all these negative reviews! I eat sushi here with my family once a month and we always have a wonderful experience. I love Sumo’s sushi because it isn’t so large I have to unhinge my jaw to eat it, unlike the other popular sushi restaurant in town. Doesn’t hurt that they have the best garlic fried rice in the country, either. I crave it all the time!
