Lunch buffet has always been one of the best in town.
Disappointing!. My husband and I went to Sweet Basil last year for our anniversary. He saw that it was voted the most romantic restaurant in Wichita. In a strip mall? Really?!? My husband ordered the linguine and clams. Obviously the clams had not been rinsed as each bite had sand in it. And it smelled fishy. My eggplant parmigiana was a very bland and unappetizing slimy glop on the plate. I couldn’t eat it with a fork or a spoon. The only positive was the glass of red wine.
Surprise bill. Food was good but overshadowed by end of meal where manager? added more to credit card after it was turned in with final receipt. Surprised as I had never encountered this before at any restaurant. They apologized and reversed charge. Not sure if they thought they could get away with this or not.
Great food, great service and these people who say olive garden is better is out of their mind. If you like frozen pasta and generic salad head to olive garden if you want a real taste of Italian cooking go to sweet basil.
Good Lunch Buffet. We stopped here because of many good reviews, so we wanted to try the food here. The wife and I decided to try their buffet since they had one during lunch. Between us I think we tried almost everything on the buffet. We both agreed the everything was very good, excellent even. I wish I could remember all the dishes that we tried, but I waited to long to write this review. Basically, just remember that we both recommend this restaurant for Italian food if you’re in Wichita.
Disappointing…. I WANT to like Sweet Basil…I really do. But I just can’t. Most of the clientele is elderly, which is fine, but it’s almost as though they have made the food extremely bland to suit the older crowd. The appetizer, a sampling of most of their fried offerings, tasted like something out of the freezer section at the grocery store. The house salad accompanying the meal is pathetic…a flat pile of anemic iceberg lettuce, bland croutons and bottled dressing. The sauces I have had, both the marinara and alfredo, were bland and watery. Both obviously come out of a jar or can. None of it tastes homemade. The only redeeming thing about the meal was the coconut cake, which they get from a local bakery. I would be embarrassed to serve this food to my family, much less to paying customers. Unless things change, we will not be back.
Waited for 45 minutes and finally just left…they need to get their stuff together. Poor customer service!!!
