Tried a Tradition but…. Okay, I’ve tried this place and while not terrible, nothing real memorable either. Fried chicken was good, not great (and they do not warn you that it’ll take 25 minutes to prepare the chicken). Sides were good except the green beans were way too salty–cooked with country ham. Glad to try once but it’s more for the blue-haired crowd I think. Owners were pleasant and wait staff was friendly.
Loved Kurtz. Ate at Kurtz on Sunday. Absolutely the best food I have had in a long time. Salad was crisp and cold and fresh. Fried chicken was perfect, and the fried corn bread was wonderful. My husband had the turkey and country ham and he loved the beets. We had to get our pie to go, because we were too full to eat it with our meal. We will definitely eat here again.
Delicious Desserts!. Friendly, welcoming host & great desserts! Try the biscuit pudding with rum raisin sauce, coconut cream & chocolate meringue pies & coffee! Everything we had here was tasty.
Awful food and awful service I will never go there again, I’ve had better dinners from a banquet box in the freezer section the only thing that anyone liked that was with me was the cornbread which we only got two pieces of for 4 people. There were several tables around us also complaining.
Very good food. My wife and I enjoyed our meal here. I had a hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes,
The fried chickenbis some of the best I’ve ever had. The dessert and spiced beets too. They were a little stingy on the potatos though.
75 years and still Great. Kurtz’s is celebrating 75 years in business.while I have only been going for 30, this is the standard to which I hold fried chicken. The butter bean soup is unique, hammy and substantial with large meaty butter beans. The milk gravy can cover anything and make it good. Even pre-packaged mashed potatoes. The other standard sides, green beans well seasoned and cooked into total submission and pickled beets make this comfort food as well as Kentucky food history.
