Wonderful selection of bourbons, delicious comfort food, quick and courteous service, in an excellent rustic setting. We loved our first visit and will make Mammy’s part of every trip to Bardstown.
We had excellent hamburgers for lunch today. Service was very good.
Fried green tomatoes were good. Not great but not bad. Was served with Ranch dressing (weird). Bourbon glazed pork chops were very tasty. Well, the one that wasn’t burnt on one side was tasty. Green beans were good. Chocolate pie was delectable.
Waited only 10 minutes after being told the wait would be 25. The food took considerably longer to get. Considering they are cooking from frozen rather than fresh, the wait time isn’t surprising. The food was only ok. Everything on my plate(country fried steak, roll, French fries) was frozen besides my coleslaw that was served warm. My moms green beans were out of a can and soggy. My dads steak was ordered medium well and was served medium rare. This is far and away from actual southern cooking. Our server only checked on us once the entire time we were there. The decor was stereotypical southern. Played classic rock music then abruptly changed to country. Several TVs showing sports and the news. However, we couldn’t hear them at all and subtitles were turned off.
Mammys Kith hen moved since i last went there in Sept 2014. You had to usually wait for a table at the old place. They are now about 1/2 block away in much larger quarters. Great for the hungry person as the wait is now nearly zero except for prime time most evenings. Ate there 4 times in 4 days. Two dinners a lunch and then breakfast. Great comfort food. Open faced Pot roast w super green beans. GreaT meat loaf. Super club sandwich and a great breakfast. Twice had fried to perfection mushrooms for appetizer. Can not wait to go back.
Home cookin heaven. Went to mammys kitchen today and wasn’t sure what to expect but I have to say it was authentic, southern, feel good food. Probably not the best place if you’re in a hurry but honestly, who wants to be in a hurry down south? Corn bread is so good and the chocolate pie is like grandmas! Will be going back for sure! Nice staff and patient with kids!
Thanksgiving 2014. I forgot to add my name and address in the review of thanksgiving 2014.Frank Walker102 Olde Towne DrBardstown, KY 40004502-460-6618If the owner of mammys would like a complete review of the incompetence of the staff, please feel free to contact me. I will be more than happy to give you my most honest opinion.27 Nov, 2014Thanksgiving 2014. Went to this so called restaurant at 2:30 pm Thanksgiving day 2014. Wait staff was incompetent, rude and could care less about you. My father who called a day in advance to see if we needed reservations, was told over the phone no, first come first serve. When we arrived the staff had no clue of who was coming or going. We asked to be seated and was told in a minute., in the meantime a couple walked in and announced to the wait staff that they had reservations, I immediately questioned the staff about reservations not being needed and was immediately given a deer caught on the headlights look. My father and u got up and told them cracker barrel sounds like a better place for us, the main waitress replied yes I think that would be best. We started to leave and was followed by the staff trying to get us to return, I told them thanks but no thanks and was then told I was barred from mammys for rude behavior..I am now barred from a pig sty. Who would have thought that possible.
