Wait way too long. We didn’t even get to eat here. After waiting an hour to be seated we left and went across the street to mammy’s. Much better choice!

A rotten meal. Bad service, substandard food, overpriced menu items–My dining experience was a sad and pitiful experience. As a local native I know Kentucky and Southern food; I would not recommend Old Talbott Tavern to anyone but the most diehard tourist who’s passing through the area and is interested in the checking out the Old Talbott Tavern building for historical purposes only. My drink was bad–how can you foul up a bourbon and water?

Wish my Hot Brown had had better flavor. The old historic building is cool but when you walk in, you have no idea where to go. There is a gift shop straight ahead and the girl behind the far counter is very uninterested in welcoming you or assisting you as you look around as to where to go. We went toward the music (right) and found ourselves in what looked like a biker bar with really loud/live music. No one even acknowledged us. We walked back out and tried to find a bathroom before we left. We happened upon the girl sitting behind the register and ask if there was a real restaurant. She then acted as hostess and set us in the restaurant. the salad was fresh and the homemade dressing (ranch) was good. The Old Fashioned I had (requested Bulleit Bourbon instead of Jim Beam) came and the fruit was rancid and it had Jim Beam in it. We ordered Hot Browns (a traditional meal to us Kentuckians). I couldn’t even eat it. It is suppose to have Mornay sauce. The sauce was no more than water, milk and flour with no salt, pepper or cheese (parmesan and Gruyre) in it. It was totally flavorless. Even the cheap cheddar on top had zero flavor. The only flavor was from the charred/burnt bacon on the top. Inside was turkey and ham deli meat (super cheap and zero flavor). I think I had a bit of bread, but unsure. The tomato sliver was old tasting. The server dealing with the table behind us was not knowledgable about bourbon.. He was telling the guests that they wanted to make sure they didn’t order a bourbon that picked up the char or wood flavors from the barrel………….Oh, my goodness! That’s what makes Bourbon Bourbon and not moonshine or whiskey. Overall, it was not a great experience. The waitress was nice but I could see in the kitchen and the staff were horeplaying.

Looks pretty on the outside but the food is just regular bar food. Very disappointed. You would think since the disterillery is so close, the food might incorporate bourbon sauces, etc.

I like it. I was there on a business dinner. Their bourbon selection is amazing which is cool for out o towners like myself and my prime rib was cooked perfectly and priced right at $22. Desserts are amaZing. Our party tried one of each and just passed it around. The building is seeped in American history and the staff was very pleasant and smiling. This is a must go to. It’s really cool.

Tacky bar area. The hostess was rude to us and acted like she wished we weren’t there. My glass was dirty and the food wasn’t that great. I am very sorry I went here.

I’ve been here twice and won’t return. I had the blackened steak wrap served with a few cold fries. The steak was smothered in a horrible blackened seasoning that rendered it almost unedible. I would have sent it back if I thought something better would replace it. This place really sucks and I won’t be back.
