GADS is outclassed by a few donut shops in town, mostly Dunkin Donuts (which isn’t saying a lot) and Best Donuts. You’d be wise to spend your money somewhere else.
Cheap, friendly, and delicious. Everything you could ask for as a college age foodie. The best part is that you will see everyone there. Around midnight is when they’re making up the next days fresh batch, and everyone from WKU shows up for it!
Where do you go if it’s late at night and you need some grub in BGKY? If you are among the wise then you’ll find yourself at GADS. The donuts are excellent and you can see them being fresh made through a window. The staff is extremely patient and helpful. Not much seating but donuts are usually grabbed on the run. You can’t go wrong with a dozen from Great American Donut shop.
Excellent selection, very solid donuts. GADS is very much a mom and pop store. Its selection is as good as any you’ll find and the donuts are of relatively high quality. They don’t keep especially well, but that’s donuts for you. Chain stores come and go, but GADS has been a Bowling Green bedrock for at least fifteen years (that’s how far back my knowledge goes). Competitive prices, excellent selection, and tasty treats.
TORN— they are the best but…. I live for GADS! I craved them everyday during my pregnancy and still to this day have to have my fix! BUT it is coming harder and harder to get… I am very picky about which donuts I eat and it seems that everyone likes mine too! For the last month every time I go in they are out of the two essentials — chocolate covered crulers and raspberry filled— BACK BG THESE ARE MINE!!!
Every town needs a little donut shop that isn’t a chain but is locally owned. This is it for Bowling Green. These are the absolute best donuts for miles around. Those that think Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts are great have never tried these.
Absolutely Essential. If you are ever in the BG area and haven’t been to GADS, you’re doing yourself a great disservice. This is a pillar of the BG/WKU community and I hope it remains so for many years. I’m a big fan of plain cakes dipped in hot coffee, but you really can’t go wrong with any of their stuff. Go in, get some delicious donuts any time day or night, get teased by the family that owns it, and soak up the experience.
