I went to Mexico about 5 months ago and the Mexican hangover still is very prominent. Came to Lexington for a day and this place was right behind the hotel.1) The complimentary chips were AWESOME !!! One of the best one that I have had so far. The salsa was good as well. I figured out that the chips would go well with the cheese dip so ordered that extra.2) We ordered beef fajitas and Pollo Nortoo. I was in Guadalajara, Mexico for 5 months and visited a lot of restaurants during that period but I didn’t find anything by the name Pollo Nortoo. So, I guess its a local experiment here in KY. I do not eat beaf so didn’t taste however my friend loved it. The Pollo Nortoo was average – not bad at all but nothing outstanding. The chicken tasted fresh, vegetables were really fresh and I liked the rice.3) The tortillas were soft as well.4) Price wise a littttttle on the higher side.5) Ambience and cleanliness was great.
In my opinion, one of Lexington’s strongest cuisines is Tex-Mex, and so we typically venture elsewhere for it, such as El Rancho or Durango’s. El Mariachi offers friendly service, convenience, and a basic Tex-Mex menu that is consistently average. I would recommend Ellos on Broadway for tacos or El Charro (in the Beaumont area) for better and nearby Tex-Mex.
