Im not sure where the nay sayers are coming from but El Toro is one of the best restaurants in Lexington Ky. The food is superior to the larger restaurants like Hacienda and they always have two for one margaritas. They dont spare the tequila either. The negative critics must be missing Chi Chis or something. El Toros may not have the greatest atmosphere but the service is unbeatable. I used to take my family there quite often and my youngest, being a picky eater, wouldnt eat the carrots and beans in the Mexican rice so he ordered plain Mexican rice with no vegetables. We never knew until years later that our waiter, who eventually became more like a friend, was picking the vegetables out by hand before serving him. I know of no other place that will do that. El Toro is a family owned business and my family and I eventually got to know most of them on a first name basis. We talked about their kids and our kids and had many laughs with them. When the youngest brother left for Louisville to start a new restaurant, we made it a point to stop by and surprise him. He sat down and talked to us while we ate and we shared a lot of memories and laughs as we did many times in the Lexington store. . He brought his wife and by that time, two small ones to our table to introduce them. Im not aware of a single other restaurant with that type of personality and focus on customer service and I have enjoyed food at a lot of different Mexican restaurants in my time from Cozumel to Prestonsburg and El Toro is superior across the board. You owe it to yourself to visit.

I went to all the Mexican places in south Lexington since i moved here and this one is Way over priced. Seriously, $6,00 for Queso. Give me a total break! Food was very average. servers as the last lady said were non chalant with no personality . Dont think i would go back ..Also The.Parking lot so small a truck can barley fit!
