My Husband and I celebrated an early Valentine’s Day dinner this past Saturday 2/11/17. We had a reservation at 7:00pm. We arrived early to enjoy a glass of wine at the bar and some cheese. They were busy but not more than any other restaurant on a Saturday evening. We ordered our drinks and cheese plate. Drinks were prompt and delicious. We never got our cheese plate and decided we were tired of waiting for it and didn’t reorder. We were seated at a table in the enclosed patio area. It was very dim with red candle light on the tables. Our server, I believe was Sherese or something like that. She did not smile the entire meal and never introduced herself. Her name was on our bill. She brought us glasses of water and let us look at the menu. We ordered the duck egg rolls for our appetizer. My Husband had the kale salad and I had the french onion soup. Both came promptly and were delicious. We placed our entree order after our appetizer arrived. I also ordered a glass of wine. We waited a long time for our entrees. We watched others get bread and water refills. We did not, and our server was never around us to ask. I had the Lobster Parpadelle itwas so good! Plenty of lobster and the homemade pasta and sauce was amazing. My Husband had the Sea Scallops with orzo. It was good as well, but only 3 small to medium scallops for $32.00. We never got more water and I finally got my wine after I finished dinner. I sent it back as we were done and ready to go. We would have ordered dessert but were tired of being ignored. So, they missed out on making money on cheese plate, wine and dessert. Probably not the best way to run a restaurant. Not sure if we will be back. The servers need more help and or training on busy nights.

Shocked. Dinner today .butcher board, duck sausage, ok. goose liver pate, tasteless, beef cheek. different., ham, salt city. three sausage, Weisswurst (pork) no taste. duck chicken, so, so. Chorizo, Great! PEI mussels. a record for me, the worst experience of mussels. Snapper, sure. could not eat, overcooked, tasteless. lobster pappardelle, fresh, good. creme brulee good and well presented. cobbler, bread pudding. sad, people really like this. they like Arby’s and big mac as well
Disappointed. Having dined here many times over the years, am disappointed with its steady decline in quality and apparent indifference. Recent example was last Saturday where the service was slow, the Short Rib was 75 percent fat and something that could be used for seasoning and not as the entree. I should have sent it back, but didn’t. I told the waiter and he said he would tell the chef, but guess what no adjustment on the bill, nothing. Guess they have seen us for the last time. This is just one example of the slide- many better rests in the Lex area.
Great appetizers, lousy entrees.. Their appetizers work so well–from the mussels to the charcuterie plate. The entrees are small and less than desirable for the price you pay. Also, if you have a gift card–BRING YOUR RECEIPT. You’re at risk of it not being honored.
I used to love this place. My friends and I would eat here at least once a month. The food was so good that we were alright with paying the prices. However, the last three times we have all been the food has been no where near what it used to be. From what I understand they do not have a chef any longer and the owner is the cook. Well, I can tell the difference. I have eaten dinner there for the last time. My husband and I brought some out of town guests and we spent almost $300 and not one single person was happy with their meal. Nothing was terrible per se but nothing was even remotely like what it used to be. Beef was way over cooked, escargot tasted like straight wine and nothing else, and the scallops were just so so. I hate that this has happened. This was our go to place for a fabulous dinner and night out. I guess we will have to find somewhere else.
Great atmosphere good quality food and wine. Very reliable but don’t be in a hurry
