If you’re going to call yourself a coffee pub, at least give me some different choices of coffee blends and don’t bring me coffeemate single creamer packs. Food was great. Coffee and creamer choice, not so much.

Update: Below average service on our most recent visit, and although my order was satisfying (which was two over-easy eggs with bacon, cheese grits and wheat toast), my wife’s order – the chicken soft tacos (two flour tortillas, scrambled eggs, grilled chicken, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese, served with potatoes) – was disappointing; her tacos consisted of what appeared to be processed chicken cubes. We will certainly return, but will stay away from the tacos. Coffee Pub is located within a quaint cottage-style building that can be very cozy when the restaurant is not busy; however, when this place is full, eating here can be downright uncomfortable, and so … arrive early. At Coffee Pub, breakfast is far superior to lunch. We really enjoy its premium blend coffee, which is sold in half-pound bags. Over the past few months, we have ordered numerous items, like the Egg Sandwich (two scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar cheese on an English muffin), served with roasted potatoes; the 2-2-2 (two buttermilk pancakes, two pieces of bacon, and two eggs (for me, over-easy)); and one of Coffee Pub’s best specials (weekends only), the Biscuits and Gravy Platter (two buttermilk biscuits, topped with peppered sausage gravy, two eggs, and three pieces of bacon). Most recently, my wife ordered the Belgian Waffle (buttermilk waffle served golden brown, with strawberries and whipped cream), and I ordered the Spinach and Mushroom Omelet (sauted spinach and mushrooms topped with Swiss cheese). While the menu plays it safe, the dishes are well-executed and consistently satisfying. For pancakes and waffles, we prefer Josie’s (although both Josie’s and Coffee Pub serve store-bought syrup, for some reason), and for an outside-the-box breakfast menu, we prefer Minton’s, yet Coffee Pub is worth your time.

Very mediocre food. Corrned beef hash is not deli sliced corned beef, chopped, browned and tossed on top of frozen fried potatoes. No salt & pepper, nothing. Dry. The breakfast burrito was again tastless. Salt snd pepper would have helped. The refried beans in the burrito were flavorless. The taste that came through was the over cooked brown scrambled eggs. This is the second time i’ve been here ( two years between ) nothing has changed.

Cozy atmosphere, a real feeling of eat-slow-and-enjoy. Staff was friendly and I noticed they called regulars by name. Food was tasty. I got the 2-2-2 (2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon or sausage) for $7.99 and a coffee. I enjoyed everything. Though I wish they had wifi, I think they may not because it’s more of an eat and read or meet with friends kind of place. Plus the inside is not huge so they probably don’t want people sitting there for hours staring at a screen. A lovely place. I’ll definitely go back.

Breakfast is amazing and the cinnamon roll is the best I’ve ever eaten. One of the best breakfast places in Lexington. I even made the trip to eat here while I was in early labor with my son – I knew it would be a while before I could come back!

Good Food, Bad Drinks. My husband and I stumbled upon the Coffee Pub and we were glad that we did. The pros: I got the corned beef hash and it was excellent–my eggs over medium were done just right (a rare occurrence in Lexington!) and the corned beef was flavorful and not too salty. We also had the cinnamon roll, which came with absolutely delicious bourbon icing. The cons: Like other reviewers have said, my husband was amazed at how boring the coffee was, particularly at a restaurant with coffee in the name. I ordered a cup of hot tea and it cost several dollars for just a bag of Tazo. It is another restaurant with a horse theme, but it is not overdone. Overall, I will say that I plan to return and order the exact same food as before–it was that good–but I’ll stick with water to drink.
