Just my opinion.. A few facts about this place…Chicken salad, potato salads, pies, cookies and most soups are not made on site. They are bought already made from Sysco. The owner has no problem yelling at his staff in front of customers to the point that the customers feel sorry for the staff. Food is pricey especially for a sandwich that could be made at home and soup that isn’t homemade! What is good? The black bean cakes, pimento cheese (it’s addictive, may have MSG in it, seriously!), large drink selection, cheese selection, a few hard to find food products (jellies, sauces, etc…).

Lunch plus shopping. My wife and I regularly have lunch at the Mouse Trap because you can get a sandwich and soup, or various other things, and pick up something to go. The food is pretty darn good for sandwiches, which in my opinion are not the best class of food, generally speaking, and the sides are always good no matter which one you get. I’m a huge soup person and I’ve never had a bowl of soup here that I didn’t like, so I always get the sandwich/soup combo (although they make a killer Waldorf salad too!) It’s fairly small, but don’t be fooled, there is a lot of selection on the menu. The food is always fresh and they have a very good (non-alcoholic) drink selection, as well as fresh lemonade, including some very interesting uncoomon selections. I got a fantastic ginger beer there once – superb stuff that you just can’t find most places. If you like quaint little shops or tea rooms you will probably be at home here, but don’t expect a huge place like McCalisters or Jason’s. This is a very nice, very quaint, somewhat small local shop with good food.

HATED it!! I’m not a picky eater and I didn’t like this place AT ALL. Watery broccoli soup and rude service!! I won’t be back!!

Absolutely adore this place. This is absolutely the cutest sandwich shop with the best food. Their sandwiches are very generous and the food in their display case is awesome. I highly recommend the crab cakes, the corn and bean salad, the waldorf salad, any fruit salad available and the asparagus. I think their prices are very fair, especially the half soup/salad. The store is great. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for kitchen items, specialty cheeses, crackers or other cooking items.I see a few people have commented the people are snobby. Maybe try going on Friday and weekends. That is when I go and I always have the same young, college girls wait on me (I’m an old woman, so I’m not just impressed by their looks), and they are always extremely polite and service oriented. I think they are very sweet. In fact, they often carry my tray to my table for me and never accept a tip for doing so.This is one of my favorite places to eat in any city.

Yummy sandwiches!. Really good food! But honestly, I always get it to go because I can’t stand the people working there. If you can get over their attitude it really is delicious.

The Mouse Trap-great food, snobby people. I tried this place a couple weeks ago for lunch. The food was awesome. Everything tasted very fresh and their salads were amazing. The food is a little on the pricey side, but I think it’s ok for the quality of food you get. Here’s my problem: the people working there were very snobby and I seemed to bother them by asking what kind of bread they would recommend with a particular sandwich. And when I asked how long they had been open (since I had never heard of them), I got a very rude response. I’m sorry, I’m not from Lexington and not very familiar with the area. Somehow, I think my money is not good enough for them so I won’t be going back.

Not your typical eating establishment. Enjoyed both my crab cake and couscous. Really liked the berry tart! Spent more time looking around the shop than I did eating. So much to look at in such a small store. Well defiantly be going back here to eat and buy more stuff in their shop.
