Was visiting family in KY when my mother really wanted to go down memory lane and eat at Rafferty’s. I looked at the menu and thought blah…..but went anyways (gotta give my Mama the love), and found that I have to agree with many of the reviews below. The food was quite average if not a little below. The cheese fries are just that, fries with cheese, and some bacon and chives tossed on the top. The homemade ranch served with the fries was bland and uninspired. The fried mushrooms were lacking seasoning in the batter and were over-battered as well (see Elena’s pictures above). We split the club and while it was huge, making a large sandwich does not make up for flavor in almost all cases, and this was one of them. It was just a large cumbersome sandwich with too much poor quality meat. My wife actually ended up pulling all her deli meat off and eating the rest like it was a BLT. The highlight of the of the meal was the mint julep! I usually do not drink them since they can be so strong, but it was the day of the Belmont Stakes and I was in Kentucky, (the home of the mint Julep) so I was in the mood, and man was it good. I could taste the alcohol, but it was very muted, due to their use of mint flavored simple syrup, with shaved ice tossed in powdered sugar. This is a Triple Crown (sorry I could not resist) of a drink and i will be making it at home in the future. Ok, so there you have it. Time to wrap it up. Go for drinks, and maybe go somewhere else for lunch. I do not know how the dinner is, some of it looked good on the menu. I can be a food snob, hell I am one. Go see for yourself. -B-

Service was a bit spotty. It took the host several minutes to seat us even though the dining room was relatively empty, and it was during off hours (around 3-ish). I think there were no more than 3 different people who waited on us. I wouldn’t have thought that would be a shift change time but perhaps so. Atmosphere is most certainly blah.Ordered battered mushrooms that were ok, as well as so-so loaded fries. I did not care for the meat on the club. Definitely NOT Boar’s Head – very fatty, vein-y.Best thing on the menu was the mint julep (and I’m not even a bourbon fan)! Loved the shaved ice with powdered sugar on top!

Not for me. To be fair, I did not eat at Rafferty’s. It was so filthy I could not bring myself to even sit down. The walls, floor & chair upholstery looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in decades.
