Better than the average roadhouse…. Chain steak houses aren’t my thing but this is pretty good. The salad was $3 extra but the salad bar was fantastic. I encountered nothing frozen and all was very fresh and well presented. I had a ribeye which seemed to be a pretty good cut of meat and was cooked perfectly as well. A very good experience. Very pleasant waitress who was as I recall from Colorado.
We used to love this place. We went about a month ago after not having been there for about a year, and it was SO disappointing. The steaks were overpriced and I was a bit aggravated that you only get one side and have to pay an extra $3 if you want a salad. We both decided to get the salad bar anyway. My salad stuff was unremarkable–standard stuff but edible except for one type of salad that looked really good but was absolutely inedible when I actually tried it. (The name escapes me because it’s been a month ago.) I was really mad when I saw that the sliced cucumbers my husband got were obviously frozen. Seriously? The steaks were okay and our server was great, but if a couple is paying $60 for a meal–and that’s with no drinks or dessert–take some pride in the food you serve and don’t rip them off. And especially if you’re charging $3 for a side salad, don’t serve frozen vegetables in it. Why the place is always crowded is beyond me. It will take a lot of thought before I ever go back. If you want a really good steak, or anything else, at a reasonable price, do yourself a favor and drive to Melissa’s in Versailles. No, I’m not affiliated–it’s just the restaurant I compare all others to now and I wish we’d waited for a table there instead of going to Cattleman’s.
