Staxx BBQ is a decent little restaurant. Portion size was adequate and quite tasty. The meats are good enough to enjoy without having to add sauce, the sides just as generous and delicious. For what you are getting the price is hard to beat.
For all that is wrong with Staxxs, there is a whole lot right. On the wrong side, their sides are small and over priced. Most are tasty enough, but no self respecting country man would give a guest a tiny little serving of green beans. On the good side, they serve decent meat which I suspect is cooked and then smoked at the end. I brought my mother several take away dinners during her final months, she never liked anything but even she said kind words about Staxxs. Our go to lunch, is the wings. They cook them, and then drop them in the fryer right before serving. Some have been better than others, some have a divine smoked flavor and other not so much. Still, a big order of wings, a large drink, a mess of hot pickles and their divine sauces is a right nice lunch. Again, I wish that getting a couple of orders of Texas toast to go with the meal wasn’t so expensive, but unless you’ve got the time to get out of town and to go to New Castle, it is the best you are going to do.
