Don’t eat here if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. Don’t eat here for Tex-Mex. What you get here is …Ky-Mex? I’ve been eating here on visits to Frankfort for years, though mostly at the location on 127 South, and mostly when it was still called Taco John’s. But things don’t seem much different these days.The ground beef is still greasy and spiced with what tastes suspiciously like chili powder. The side of choice is piles of little deep fried hash rounds with a bit too much seasoned salt. But somehow, it works. I actually crave the food here once or twice a year and will find excuses to go down Frankfort way to get some.Service is friendly, and about as good as one can expect through a drive through fast food window. Atmosphere is likewise unsurprising.In summary, the food here is about as far as you can get from haute cuisine and still be desirable in some way. But however wrong the food here may seem, it is actually just want you want when you crave a serious fast food fix.
