TWO Thumbs up from Iowa Travelers!. Returning from Myrtle Beach, S.C. and with high recommendations from Ed, we called Rodneys on Broadway and made reservations for 7 PM for our return trip to Iowa from Myrtle Beach. It was approximately a 668-mile drive. Steve answered the phone, our warm and friendly host for the evening and Eds son. The lovely, renovated home features a comfortable living room, formal dining room and a warm bar, which was being managed this evening by Rachel. She made suggestions for a before dinner glass of wine and kept the evening lively. For starters, we had Lamp Chop, (didnt know you could have an appetizer of lamb chop), it was grilled and basted with garlic sauce. Simply delicious. The main course was a Prime beef, Filet Mignon. It was completed with a homemade port wine/bleu cheese crumbles. Full of flavor and delicious. Laura decided on the Roasted Duck, that was enhanced by the berry and chocolate flavors of Chef Rodneys port wine reduction. Chef Rodney, popped out and said hello and his wife Elizabeth was busy all evening with the Georgetown regulars like Ellen and her husband sitting with us at the bar.The next time you are North of Lexington, take the time to recalculate your GPS to 222 N. Broadway. Rodneys top-shelf menu, down home hospitality and outstanding service are a great way to spend the evening! Cheers from the Iowa girls via Myrtle Beach
Delightful. We were driving south from Ohio trying to outrun the snow and just happened to stop in Georgetown for dinner. Our first attempt was a casual place — nice but not what the mood called for. When we asked the waitress where she would go for fine dining, she enthusiastically recommended Rodney’s. We soon found out why! Fantastic food, friendly staff and a delightful foodie talk with Chef. Truly a memorable experience and a destination location for the future. We strongly urge everyone to try Rodney’s!
Worth a Repeat. We were a party of 4, staying near Georgetown over Thanksgiving week. Rodney’s was recommended by our B & B hosts and it hit the mark. We loved dining in one of the small room with just 4 other tables. Service was excellent without being stuffy; food delicious, especially the trout special in a butter/almond sauce. With so many restaurants to choose from in and around Lexington, we opted to return to Rodney’s for our last night. Once again, we were not disappointed. Excellent food, local atmosphere in the 19th century home-cum-restaurant, and a friendly staff…what’s not to like?
How going out to eat should be. The building is I believe a mid 19th century house that is incredibly structurally sound. The interior is comfortable and full of original detail not usually found somewhere you eat… in a good way. The staff is wonderful. The food was excellent. My filet was pan seared perfectly, and the green pepper demi glace complimented it well. The chef is surprisingly personable. This is not common in restaurants where i am from (Cleveland) and it was great to see that someone who runs an establishment like that is not out of touch with his customers. Overall, it is a great place to eat and enjoy an evening.
Beats Any Big City Restaurant. Celebrated Sweetest Day and a new job at Rodney’s tonight. Food is always excellent and service is very professional. Our server Amanda made the evening a joy. Georgetown is lucky to have a special place that has a menu that compares with any restaurant in a major city! Thanks Chef Rodney. If you are passing Georgetown on I-75 or live near, make this your next special evening out!
Good times. Four dined at Rodney’s. Hostess was great. The old house had a warm feel. The interior design had a nice flow. Our server, Jessica, was very knowlegable, and explained each item with very discripitive detail. Our over all experience was a 9.0 on a scale of 1 to 10. Highly recommended. There were only two concerns. I felt the drink prices from the bar were a little high if you ordered anything other than a beer. The other issue was for the vegetarian in our group… There was not a robust menu. Maybe add an eggplant or portibella mushroom entree. Thanks for the experience.
Great find. My husband and I discovered Rodney’s a few weeks ago and are we glad we did! The special salad was worth the trip alone…layers of squash, tomatoes, onion, cheese. I had grouper and my husband had chicken. Both were excellent. The waitress helped me select a blended white wine…again excellent.
