Bard’s Burgers is back!The restaurant had been closed the last couple years after another manager had tried and failed to carry on the legacy, but it’s once again open under new management. The food is better than ever, including a return of the long-missed poutine and one of the best burgers I’ve eaten in a long time.Aside from a prominent chalkboard wall of daily specials, the place looks nearly the same, with a fresh coat of paint, some Covington artwork and red-and-white checkered tablecloths.The burger had a great char from the flat-top grill and fried pickles and fries arrived piping hot. Good Burger. I had been driving by this place for months thinking about trying it and finally did today.. Service was fantastic and the food was really good. Need to update and spruce the place up a bit looks run down.
Something has gone wrong. Most review after 2010 are negative. My experience was totally underwhelming. Steep prices, cheep service wear and a staff that was preoccupied with personal gossip. I won’t return.
Going down hill. My husband and I have eaten at Bard’s many times. Recently it seems it has changed. The food is still good but the prices have increased like crazy. Also we weren’t served our food on actual plates, but in lined plastic baskets. I ordered a bowl of chili and it was brought to me in a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon. This is a change from the times when we had been there before. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day but it seemed a little weird to me. When the check came we noticed the huge jump in prices. I understand the economy is bad and they’re probably trying to stay afloat but come on! For what we paid we could have gone to a nicer restaurant and ordered food and a drink! I was disappointed and we haven’t been back since. When they opened they had a good thing going, then it changed. Bad move.
Not impressed. I’d heard this place served real poutine so I went there to give it a try. I did not get what I expected. The fries were overly dark and greasy, the gravy tasted like lousy overly salty canned gravy and it was topped with shredded mozzerella, not cheddar cheese curds like it should be. Did not try anything else and I’m glad I didn’t waste any more money than I did. Made sure to let the waitress know I was unimpressed. Choked down the food because I was hungry, paid my bill and left. Won’t be going back.
