Friendly staff, but the food needs some work. We went here for brunch and our omelettes were very large, but very overcooked–they had that nice brown, rubbery, slightly burnt thing happening on the outside of the omelette. The fillings were also overcooked. It also took FAR too long to get our food. It’s a shame, because we were looking forward to finding a flavorful vegetarian-friendly spot in Lexington, but this won’t be it.
Update: Recently ordered the farmer’s market omelet, with artichoke, asparagus, broccoli and mozzarella. It is certainly the best omelet that I have had in Lexington. Extremely fresh ingredients, very filling, and relatively healthy. We have visited Alfalfa multiple times over the past few months for brunch, and we have been consistently impressed. Although the space can become very crowded, the service is friendly, the portions are large, the atmosphere is unique, the prices are reasonable, and the brunch is spot-on. Most recently, I ordered the biscuits and gravy, topped with fresh scallions and tomatoes (four buttermilk biscuits smothered in gravy), as well as a side of Stone Cross (Spencer Co., KY) bacon and an over-easy egg. My wife ordered the same, with a side of Stone Cross sausage. My brother-in-law ordered the French toast (four points of either whole wheat or potato bread dipped in egg and milk with sugar and spice, then cooked on the griddle; topped with powdered sugar and butter), which he thoroughly enjoyed. We will be returning soon!
Unbelievable breakfast food. I’m hungover post tailgate and this was my prescription. Breakfast burrito is fire. Breakfast burrito is fire.
All-around poor experience. Visited Easter morning. Place was dead at 1030am, should have realized what that meant. I had overlooked bacon, a flat scrambled egg, a dried up biscuit. Had to ask for butter twice. My sister was served pancakes with no syrup or butter. My daughter’s pancakes were ok, bacon almost burnt. Waitress returned only once. Automatically put us all on one tab. Will not return.
Fried Pork Belly. Meat side of this belly fat was as hard as a credit card.
Always pleased with the friendly service and fresh, flavorful food. I’ve recently had the red beans & rice with andouille sausage, the Phillipino tofu, band the tomato bisque. Everything I’ve eaten here has been delicious. I hope to save room for dessert one day. I love that they use local foods in their dishes.
Had salmon with a mint pesto served on quinoa with grilled asparagus and the tomato bisque. Everything was great! Service was excellent and the manager took time to come and talk to us. My new favorite Lexington restaurant!
