UK Game Day Breakfast Buffet-Pitiful Service. We arrived at the restaurant about 10 a.m. on UK vs NC game day. We knew the place would be busy and expected to have to wait. We put our name on the wait list to be seated for the breakfast buffet. Then someone came up and asked when the breakfast buffet would be closing. The greet staff didn’t know. We asked them to go find out as we wanted breakfast and if we were going to be seated after the buffet had closed we would go elsewhere. We were disappoint the greet staff were uninformed of the plans on game day.The greet staff did go ask, came back and said the buffet would be open until the game started. So, we waited and were seated. One of us went up to the buffet and one stayed at the table to order drinks. The buffet included an omelet station. However they were closing the omelet station as my partner was going through line. (This was about 10:30 a.m.) He came back and said sorry you are out of luck for an omelet they just closed it. In addition, the food on the buffet line is getting low. During the time he was in line our waitress came by took my drink orders and made no mention of the omelet station being closed or any alternatives if you wanted an omelet. So, then I went to the buffet line. At that time, the restaurant manager was going up to each person in line telling them if they wanted an omelet they could order it from their waitress. (Sadly, the waitress was not informed or I could have ordered the omelet at the same time I ordered drinks.) To add to the confusion, there was someone in line behind me that thought they were going to be able to get lunch during this time.We asked to speak with the manager. He came by and we expressed our disappointment that there was some much confusion and lack of communication to his staff. As this was an event that was planned well in advance, we felt the restaurant had ample opportunity to make plans and educate staff of those plans. We also expressed our concern that there are people attending this game from outside of Lexington and Kentucky and this reflected poorly on the city and the state. The manager indicated that this happens sometimes. It was a busy day, blah, blah. Although, the manager was willing to spend time speaking with us it was apparent that he didn’t get our frustration and why we were so frustrated. Although, we were not looking for a discount on the meal, he did offer to pick up our check. What would have been better is for him to offer us the opportunity to come back again to prove that the restaurant could do better. Alas, we will not be back. Nor will we recommend any of our friends attending UK games go to the Hyatt Restaurant for a pre or post game meal.

Pick anywhere else.. After hearing about the newly renovated restaurant and reading about the concept; it sounded like it could be a new great night out place. I’m a little leery of hotel food to begin with, but it sounded promising. First off, there was lipstick on the water glasses, then the appetizers plates came out covered in crud. After the terrible appetizers (calamari and onion rings, served with awful sauces) we trudged along to entrees; between the 6 of us we tried both beef dishes and both seafood dishes. They basically were all terrible…overly sweet potatoes on the side, the mac’n’cheese with green chilies looked and tasted like nacho cheese soup with some noodles stirred in it. After the bad appetizers, we should have cut our loses and gone to the Arby’s in food court downstairs.
