Some of the best barbeque I’ve ever had! Always friendly service also! They have a very good selection of different sauces to choose from!
This is City BBQ’s original location in Lexington, and we have been coming here for quite some time. We typically visit when we are looking for a meal that we know we will enjoy.The manager is diligent and polite, even when his restaurant is busy, and he personally reviews each order to ensure accuracy and quality.Meats are smoked on-site (18 hours) and hand rubbed with spices (not bad for a chain). My wife ordered the pork sandwich (the pork had a perfect smoke ring and delicious bark), with two orders of cornbread (Southern-style). I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich (free-roaming, Amish farm chicken), with mashed potatoes and hush puppies (crispy exterior; moist interior; and not overcooked). With sweet tea that is sweetened with pure sugar, a wide assortment of bbq sauces, great service, and quality food, City BBQ is one of our regular stops.
Have learned to like this over time. Originally so-so but has improved in my mind. Walk up ordering is a little confusing. Sauces are a little too molasses infused for my taste.
1st time here and it was rib Tuesday night, 1.25 a bone. Ribs very good, not dried out, very moist and a good smoke flavor. Some of the better ribs I’ve had. Didn’t care for the sauces much, a little too much molasses for me, but mix some original with the vinegar sauce at the table and it was just about right! Fries and beans good. Solid BBQ joint, will return:)
Job Well Done. These guys know how to smoke meat. The pulled pork is exceptional. Friendly service and you get your food in about 3 minutes.The management and crew here deserve a round of applause for maintaining top notch service and quality.
Great food at a reasonable price.. Just went for the first time the other day and was pleased to find the food was as good as I had at a catered event a couple of years ago. I got the beef brisket on a bun with the sweet bbq sauce, corn pudding, and fries. The beef with sauce was great, the corn pudding was delicious, and even though I’m not really a fry guy, they were a good compliment. Another thing I like is that the portion is filling enough to where I always have leftovers. So sure it’s ~10 bucks, but that’ll usually net 1 1/2 to 2 meals. It also turned me on to a soda I had never heard of but really enjoyed called Cheerwine.
Everything you want in a BBQ place. I don’t usually review places, but this one truly deserves it. I was returning home from grocery shopping and was really craving some bbq. City BBQ was right across the street, so I thought I’d pop in and buy a brisket sandwich to go. Not only was the brisket amazing, but the gentleman refused to take a penny from me because I had just moved into the city and it was my first time trying his BBQ. Although this is chain, I definitely got a local vibe that felt like home. Great atmosphere! Will definitely go back soon with friends.
