The food here is terrific. The set up is a bit confusing for the first time guests, even though there are detailed signs telling you their system. Basically you order at the register and they bring you the food. However you do need to remember to pick up your silverware, napkins, and the homemade jelly, etc, you are the server but they will deliver your food, and they are quick. So it’s not that complicated after you do it the first time, and unlike most breakfast places there isn’t a server making sure you have everything you need, and refilling drinks.Other than that the food is outstanding, and since it is self serve it is casual. Cheese grits and the previously mentioned homemade jellies make this place special. Napkins at the table would be nice and a little larger dining room would be good, but you are coming here for the food not the dining experience and they definitely have the food part down. They have a sign that says be nice, or leave, so am guessing these people are pretty experienced in the food service industry and know how customers can be sometimes. So be nice and enjoy some good food, but you are the wait staff, and as long as you understand that, you probably are going to like this place. You might also start to appreciate how much work a good server does at a breakfast joint, and how you miss them when they aren’t there.

Delicious home cooked breakfast in an unique atmosphere. Try the patio if weather permits. Had a biscuit and gravy special, nice spice to the gravy over homemade biscuits. And they served the best beignets north of the Gulf of Mexico that I’ve tasted.
Great first-time experience at Doodle’s today. Diverse menu, fast and friendly service. On an employee recommendation, I had Tara’s corned beef hash. Juicy, tender corned beef with bits of potato, onion, carrot and celery, under eggs nicely cooked to order. Forgot to get my drink and my server brought it to me. Looking forward to trying more of the menu and now I know why it’s always so busy.
Can you say pretentious? A less than satisfying experience in a cramped space and with unfriendly service. Do yourself a favor and travel down the road to visit Minton’s.
Do not order the spicy fries. Ther were cold, stiff, impossible to chew. The hamburger was dull and tough. My coat and clothing were impregnated with grease smell for days due to inadequate ventilation.
