Le Deauville = l’ Imposture. An attempt at being succinct for such a mediocre experience. My wife and I dined here tonight (28Feb15) for a special occasion only to find ourselves wishing for much more; both in quality and service. Though you pay for it irregardless of your experience.Appetizer: Escargot. It was as fresh as escargot straight from a tin-can bought at Kroger can be; roasted in too much butter, jarred garlic, and dried basil attempting to disguise the staleness of it’s origin. Is it too much to ask that a restaurant have its chefs chop fresh garlic instead of the bleached, +3 year old nonsense sold in vats at the grocery?Main course:Special for my wife: Tiger Shrimp linguine in creme sauce w/ zucchini. An incredibly past-done thick, heavy, and dried-out sauce; stench with a mild fish odor and caked rather than coating some extremely overcooked shrimp. Over done pasta was the highlight of this ‘special.’ It is easy to overcook and dry out a creme sauce, but serving rubber shrimp on past done pasta as well, and this dish was screaming signs of simply being left-overs.My main course: ‘Margaret Special’ Duck breast roasted with a sweet cranberry/date glaze. It was actually fairly good and perfectly cooked to medium as requested. A slight crisp to the fatty edge before the pink center was done nicely. The sweetened fruit worked well with the slightly ‘gamier’ duck. Dessert: Chocolate Mousse: Nothing more than a standard chocolate heavy creme or thickened ‘Snack-pack’ special. Just with an $9 price tag as the difference.Service: On cue but nothing special. Polite, concise, at times a little quick or rushed but about what you’d expect when dining out anywhere in the US: Someone doing the job assigned to them but nothing more. Here’s where Le Deauville lost me:A forced 20% gratuity on our bill for 2 people, regardless of service quality. My wife’s mediocre (Fazoli’s quality entre.) A near wash for their Groupon ‘deal.’ Not to mention $5.50 for a beer (Peroni) and $8 for a glass of incredibly blah Pinot Grigio.Meal total for 2 after tax: $119- $50 Groupon (Paid $28 for) $22 difference/value.- Self imposed 20% gratuity by restaurant was $18.9; nearly negating the entire $22 Groupon ‘value/difference’In short: A somewhat stiff price-tag for cuisine making you wish you had gotten more for your money. The food along with their service is shy of anything special and the price tag makes your wallet pay for making the mistake of thinking you’re getting a nicer meal than what you are. I could reheat some escargot from a tin-can purchased at liquor barn while having my 10 yr old nephew over cook some shrimp and pasta for a helluva lot less than the $30/plate experience at Le Deauville.*Note: In France; the ‘VAT tax’ (sales tax) and ‘service compris’ (tip included) are nearly always figured into the total price listed on the menu. Perhaps a restaurant who has the sophistication of answering the phone en Francais, should mirror its authenticity of not hiding or surprising customers with charges.

Would love to love it. I would love to love Le Deauville but….. there is a difference between leisurely dining because you want to enjoy your dining experience for 2-3 hours and being FORCED to sit for 3 hours. Most recent visit was this week. They were very busy with just one server, it appeared. The crepes were good (the first one) to pretty bad – dry with no ingredients….. the fillet and fries took two hours to be served to a member of our party. I had eaten there earlier in the week and had the Chilean bass which was a much thinner piece of bass than expected. All in all Le Deauville is a lovely setting but hit and miss on service and quality…..will probably never go back unless I have a lapse in memory

Delightful meal. Just exercised a Groupon to visit a new restaurant for us and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Waiter was Gerald; he an his support staff were doing a great job of making us enjoy this new experience and we think they did an excellent job. The food was outstanding and I must admit I entered with a skeptical attitude but came away a believer in this place. Highly recommend it.

I love this restaurant, by far is the best of Lexington. It is truly french cuisine!

Overpriced food and terrible service. Food was overpriced, but we were more unsatisfied with the services. We waited one hour for the food to arrive and the server visited our table very infrequently. Since we used a groupon, a 20% gratuity was included with the bill.

Le Deauville is my favorite restaurant in Lexington. It is true that service had been lacking until recently. But lately there have been great improvements. And what can be said about Chef Moes cooking. Superb. Best frite in town!!!

My favorite restaurant in Lexington. Le Deauville is by far the best food in Lexington. Yes, it’s going to be slow. Unfortunately, Lexington (being in one of the most overweight states in the country) is used to their fast food coming out in < 5 minutes. Europeans are used to sitting back and enjoying their wine and great company instead of seeing how fast they can receive their food and then inhale it. This is a quaint, authentic French restaurant which is a rare find in a city like Lexington. Try the Avocado and Shrimp salad, it's the best. The sea bass is always excellent, and their margaritas are house-made. And yes, the service can be a bit stuck up at times, but the overall feel of the restaurant is great.
