A fun atmosphere and friendly service. Yes, parking can be difficult, but that is an issue for all of Jefferson Street, and street parking can typically be found. A solid house salad (mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, croutons, bacon and shredded cheddar), but the real winner here was the entree – the grilled pork chop (French cut, bourbon brined, with roasted granny smith apple and caramelized onions) was cooked to perfection (unbelievably juicy and tender), and was served with smoked gouda grits (outstanding flavor profile) and asparagus! My only complaint – my dessert, a raspberry lemon bar, was disappointing, and missed the mark on taste. However, we will certainly return to try more of the menu.
I got the ribs and my girlfriend got the fish and chips. We got bruschetta for an appetizer. The food was good but not extraordinary for the pricing. I had a couple Ky Bourbon Barrel Ales and with tip the bill was $80. The waiter was very friendly and did a good job with service. However we probably will not be back because we can go to Malones for $20 or $30 less and better food.
Love their house Chardonnay and fish and chips. We always stop by to have a simple dinner. Nothing really remarkable just a good ole dinner spot.
2/1/2016 – I’ve been to Nick Ryan’s a few times in the last few years. I’ve never been impressed. Today was no different.I had the burger and fries with sweet tea as my beverage. The burger is NOT an $11 hamburger–the taste reminded me of the charboiled taste from Hardee’s or Burger King. And, I swear, every time I get the fries, they are cold. The tea is not brewed and syrupy sweet. The staff is unenthusiastic during their interaction with customers. I just don’t see what the draw is at Nick Ryan’s. Thank goodness a supplier was paying for my meal…
This place used to be great. They’ve changed the menu for the worse. The fried chicken, which used to be so good, is now dry and burned and drizzled in honey. My partner’s burger was raw–not rare, mind you–I mean raw. Dessert and the appetizer were okay. No one brought us bread. It took 20 minutes for anyone to check on us, so we kind of just sat there with our awful entrees for a long time. It’s really sad–I used to love this place. I don’t think I’ll be going back unless they make some changes in the kitchen.
Nick’s: A reliable meal. My wife and I often go to Nick’s for big events… anniversaries and birthdays. The atmosphere is pleasant. The food is good. The prices are reasonable. The service is efficient and friendly. We would like to see an expanded dessert list as it is pretty slim. But everything else is of good quality. It is a reliable place for an enjoyable meal.
Great Dining Experience. Enjoyed dinner, Had the coffee Filet Mignon, Caesar salad was delicious as well. Attentive service. Would definitely recommend.
