Pazzo’s is always crowded, service is hit and miss, it takes forever to receive your order, and Mellow Mushroom, which is only one block away, serves better pizza (in my opinion). Although the beer selection is great, that alone does not bring me through the doors.
Bad Service and Liquid Smoke Pizza. Took me three trips to this place to get a bartender’s attention. The first two times I walked out to Joe Bs for some average pizza. Lexington does not know crap about pizza because they have never been to Italy, France or Spain for the real thing. Pazzo’s pizza tastes like liquid smoke, yuk. I did not seen any wood fired ovens but even with wood fired ovens of Europe there is not a smoke flavor. Had to show the bartender how to tilt a beer glass and slowly pull back on the tap so that half the beer would not go down the drain and also that I would not have a beer that is half foam. These bartenders are costing the owner a bundle when you see the amount of beer going down the drain. Can not pour beer and can not make real pizza and lucky to get service.
Service is on the up & up. I’ve been coming to pazzos for years. I love their beer and pizza but the service has always been consistently poor. Although the last few weeks I’ve been coming in for lunch alone and sitting at the bar and the service has been splendid! I’ve had a couple different ones but I usually have Andria. She always has a smile on her face (which has always been an issue foro me here bc the waitresses never seem happy) and remembers my name and order when I come in and the food is brought out fast. Good to see a new group of workers there doing their job! (Kitchen has always been super!) 😉
Pazzo’s – tasty food, long wait times. Pazzo’s is in the heart of UK campus – directly off South Limestone. The patio is wonderful and usually packed on a nice day. Plenty of beer selections and TV’s to keep you entertained. Remember – parking is always an issue around campus, so BEWARE. If you decide to park in a spot that’s clearly not designated Pazzo’s parking, you will be ticketed & towed. I’ve seen it way to often and still don’t understand why people take the chance. A tow these days is up in the hundreds of dollars. On the food – very tasty pizzas, calzones, hoagies, soups, and salads. I read some of the other reviews and most have mixed opinions. I went during lunch hour and our party’s food was very fresh and delicious. This might be the optimal time to try things out given the critiques. Service – while the server was very nice, the time from actual order placement to table was well over 30 minutes. I don’t recommend Pazzo’s if you’re in a big lunch rush, or any rush at all. However, if you’ve got time to spare and want to enjoy the day, definitely make your way over give it a try. Its a good place to take out-of-towner’s, or people visiting Lexington for the first time. Pricing is cheap too. You can find lunch combo items on the menu for $5.00 and up. Expect to spend well under $10 per person if you’re not drinking beer. Don’t forget that it can get VERY busy during game nights and on Wednesday’s pint nights. It’s a college campus pub, so to be fair, expect lots of crowds and longer waits than most other eateries nearby.
Good Beer, okay pizza, bad service. I like Pazzo’s. I go there pretty regularly but by now I know what to expect. They usually have a nice selection of good beers. The pizza is sometimes good and sometimes just okay. The service is almost always slow and sometimes down right bad. Lunch or off peak times is your best bet but even then don’t have high expectations. If you know that going into the experience you will save yourself some annoyance.
I see a lot of reviews on here about the service and long waits. Listen, I worked at Pazzos over 5 years ago and these girls work their tail ends off. They are their own bartenders (which means they make ALL of your beers/drinks)There are 3 bars on 3 different levels of the restaurant, when you order a beer, they get them themselves. Which means they run up and down those stairs for YOU. Be patient. Also, you have no idea how many drunks and spoiled college kids they deal with on a daily basis, give them a break. With the wait, did you know that the employees aren’t allowed to ask their tables to leave? Yeah, just like every other restaurant. It’s not the servers fault if they are on a wait, the hostess, or managers. If you don’t want to wait then leave or don’t come at a dinner/lunch rush the next time. Geeze, EXACTLY WHY EVERYONE NEEDS TO WORK IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY ONCE IN THEIR LIVES.
Ok subs, horrible service. I came for dinner once and realized it was a mistake. I waited over an hour for what turned out to be an excessively greasy pizza. Don’t mess with a starving man like that! When I tried them for lunch, the wait times were still questionable, but I found they could make a decent sub. If I’m in that area and want a good sub, I get better selections from Jimmy John’s and Firehouse.
