I live really close to Smithtown and I drop by there occasionally and it has never failed me. Just recently had their seafood gumbo and it was outstanding. Love the fact they use Kenny’s Cheeses on their burgers too. An excellent choice.
SLOW!!. Bay scallops were great but it took almost 30 minutes to get it. Very few people eating, so it wasn’t because they were swamped. Will visit again but just make sure we aren’t in a hurry!
If you need a fresh, farm-to-table seafood option during Lent or otherwise, Smithtown is a perfect option. We went, enjoyed seafood with a selection of West Sixth’s brews. The atmosphere is perfect and the hospitality between West Sixth and Smithtown is great.
Food is good. Food was very good but seating is lousy for just a couple looking for a comfortable tale with chairs, very few small tables. It needs more smaller tables not the picnic beer garden type seating.
Classic items could use improvement. I tried a classic cod filet with tartar sauce and fries. Nothing fancy, but somehow I was still disappointed. The tartar sauce was really bad. I didn’t think you could mess up tartar, but apparently you can. Couldn’t place what flavor in there I didn’t like, but there was something strange about it. The fries looked aesthetically pleasing. They looked hand cut and delicious, but tasted quite dry and flavorless. If the fries and the condiment were improved, I would have felt better about the 9.95 price tag. I want to eat local for my seafood, but shouldn’t feel like I have to sacrifice taste to do it.
Hit or Miss. I’ve eaten here quite a few times while at West-Sixth. When they are slow, the good is great. The breading to fish ratio is good, it’s well cooked and tasty. But when they are really busy I’ve gotten some really bad fish. Tons of breading, over or undercooked food, soaked in grease. The value is not great, kind of pricey, but when the food is good it’s worth it.
Buffalo Catfish Sandwich. Its the most incredible sandwich ever created. Eating this sandwich is truly the highlight of my week. This place is perfectly positioned next to the West Sixth Brewery. Other items on the menu are great as well. Catfish no matter how cooked is incredible. Shrimp tacos were the best I have had. Just a great add to Lexington.
