Update (August, 2017): Well, the brunch was very disappointing, at least in our opinion. The tacos were served cold, and those on the main menu are much better, both in creativity and taste. The potatoes – regular and sweet potato – were underwhelming and not worth the calories. We will be sticking to the main menu from now on. Not our favorite tacos in Lexington (which can be found at Ellos), but consistently satisfying over the years and always a fun environment.The Local Taco is usually busy, whether it’s lunch or dinner, so do expect a crowd. Lively atmosphere with good service and tasty margaritas. We have ordered nearly everything on the menu, but particularly like the Local BBQ (12-hour smoked pork butt, with jalapeno cole slaw and house-made bourbon BBQ sauce), the Korean BBQ (Korean-style beef tenders, sesame-seared with Asian slaw, toasted sesame seeds and green onion), the Southern Fried (buttermilk fried chicken breast strips, with honey-lime mayo, lettuce and tomatoes) and the Tequila Lime Chicken (marinated chicken breast, with verde sauce, lettuce and tomatoes). The Fish and the Smoked Brisket are also regulars in our taco rotation at The Local Taco. As for the sides, I enjoy the black beans, Mexican rice, and chips and salsa, but the seasonal Cuban corn, jalapeno cole slaw, and sauteed seasonal vegetables and turnip greens are the highlights here. The Local Taco, branded as a Tex-Mex restaurant with a Southern twist, always hits the spot.

One of my favorite places to eat!!!. I eat here several times a month. Love the food and atmosphere! I was just here again today and had excellent service. I ordered the buffalo chicken taco without blue cheese and the very friendly cashier offered ranch instead. I’m glad i took her suggestion…the homemade ranch is delicious!!! Also the busser was very friendly and attentive to our needs. My friend ordered a taco and didnt like it and they offered to make her a new one.Will be back to eat there soon
Food is great! Not so much the staff!. The food is reasonably priced, and some tacos are better than others. I’ve only been to this location twice, but I LOVE the spicy shrimp taco and the veggie taco! And their salsa is pretty good. …but the issue I had on my last visit was all staff-related, which is a shame. I enjoy the food, but I don’t know that I’d go back week after week. I felt really dumb on my last visit because I had ordered an alcoholic drink and had no idea it was something I was supposed to pick up at this window by the bar…the cashier didn’t inform me of anything other than the price of my meal, so I just made the assumption that it would be brought to me with my order. However, when my food was brought to me, I asked about my drink and was quipped at by the server as to the location of my drink. She wasn’t very nice. She even rolled her eyes. It made me feel like I was in the wrong, even though I thanked her for the information with a smile. It’s not hard to show a little hospitality…or hell, to act like you enjoy your job. That’s what you’re getting paid for. If you don’t like it, find another job. Bullet points: We weren’t aware of the way things ran at this restaurant and were snarked at for our lack of knowledge on the subject by a staff member. Disappointed in the general lack of common sense for customer service/hospitality that was presented on our visit.Source: I work in the food service industry directly with the public on a daily basis.
Fresh and so clean clean. I tried this place recently after a UK basketball game and was very impressed. I recommend the steak tacos, they were fresh tasting and delicious. You must try the mexi tater tots, best tater tots I’ve ever had!
Great Value!. Cool atmosphere on College campus (the Strip), makes for good people watching from open air seating. Pitcher of Margaritas, assorted tacos, chips, salsa and con queso made fresh. A favorite!
Never disappoints!. This place is fantastic all-around. The food is phenomenal, atmosphere is great, patio seating is fun, service is top-notch (for what it is), and the prices are fair! If you like spicy food, get the spicy shrimp tacos w/bang bang sauce.
