Eclectic menu, vibrant atmosphere. Food and service very good. Try the Hot Brown.
Food and service were excellent. Had shrimp and grits. Plenty of jumbo shrimp coked just right. Bourbon sauce was out of this world. Grits were creamy and sweet
Great experience. In Louisville on business and looked for a place downtown, farm to table type of place with a comfortable upscale casual feel. We chose wisely with Bistro 301. Filet was perfectly cooked medium with a fantastic sauce, flavorful on outside and tender on inside. Grilled pork chop on the bone with jalapeo apple gastric was BIG, cooked to order and every bite delicious. The aroma of the broiler browned breadcrumbs atop the creamy mac and cheese was pretty darned wonderful. Service was friendly from greeting, to seating, waiting and had a couple of management types stop by the table just to check in. Nice bourbon cocktail, too.
Good place but, they lost our reservations at the worst possible moment. The only thing that surprised me was that they were not very nice about it.
Best night in Louisville. So happy Starr, the concierge from The Galt House, recommended Bistro 301 to us. It was BY FAR the best evening we had during our 6 night stay in Louisville. I booked it from Canada before we went down and e-mailed the owner Matt about our concerns that the kitchen closed at 10 pm. Since we were there for a NCAA swim meet at the University they finish late and we were concerned they would rush us out. The last thing you want after a day of sitting on hard bleacher seating in a sweltering hot pool!Matt was nice enough to reply quickly to me that they don’t rush anyone out the door and let me know that we were welcome to linger. I gave him our cellphone number in case he needed it and something came up that he did need to call us. He had an opportunity to have a very big group in his dining room so he called to ask if we would mind being seated at the high tables in the bar area? No problem for us since we were only 11 people and all adults! From the time we arrived until we left we were taken care of, appetizers for the table on the house as a thank you for our not minding about being sat in the bar area, drinks, amazing food, amazing value for the price, great bourbon flights, smiling friendly wait staff with personality, all in all a great Louisville experience! We ate every meal out for 6 days and this was the best. We ate at all the so-called hot spots and had to return food, were underwhelmed, or just totally gouged price-wise for terrible meals at Landmark hotels! We wish we could have eaten here every night but we had obligations to eat with our group the other nights. We highly recommend this place!
Where do I begin?. It took the waiter 10 minutes to greet us, in spite of no crowd. During our time there, he twice backed into the salt and pepper and flower vase at the next table and knocked it down. The 2nd time, the vase fell to the floor and spilled water all over my wife’s leg. He was oblivious to that and also left the 3 foot puddle next to our table that he never cleaned up. He was generally clueless about the menu and things waiters ought to know.I could continue, but suffice it to say, he had no business waiting tables. That said, the food was not too bad.
Will return.
