It’s a Louisville staple. El Nopal dominates the local Mexican restaurant scene. Of the locations I’ve visited this is by far my favorite. For years I used to go in on Friday and order chips and salsa. Best Chips and Salsa in Louisville! I got to know the manager and he’s a great guy. I’ve never had a bad meal, the Monica’s platter is my go to. Simple but delicious.
Would try to avoid. My husband and I have been to J-town once and Hikes Point twice and it has without a doubt some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The meat in the tacos tasted like ground unflavored beef, the pork looked like it was processed, and the salsa was like tomato sauce. I must add that after living in the West for quite awhile, we are somewhat spoiled, but Taco Bell has better. We will only go back under threat for our lives.

We went to the Watterson Trail location in J-town. Had the worst waiter EVER. He smirked like he knew what he was doing, but he was a complete loser. If you have a waiter who is blonde and stupid, run away.
Awesome. Place has great food/atmosphere for good prices. Only complaint is the waiter forgot my margarita.
Authentic!. Consistently good food everytime I have been there. Started going here after Ernesto’s closed down. Ernesto’s pales in comparison. This is the real thing people.
