You get a metric crap ton of food. Its all very good and big. It’s usually two meals worth. The fish was a tad plain, needed a little seasoning, but still good
Lunch Special is on point. Really glad I got there before 3pm because there is no free refills after that. If you’re looking to stuff yourself and still have more to bring home, this is the place.
Poor customer service all around. We brought out-of-town guests to dinner at Mike Linnig’s on April 8. We were seated promptly, and that was it. Our waitress, who was also the person who seated us, never again acknowledged us, even after we made several attempts to get her attention. Thirty minutes went by and not even a drink order. The restaurant was not busy at all. As we left, the same waitress wished us a good night. When we voiced our complaint (to both the waitress and the another employee), the reaction could not have been more disinterested. We will likely not be returning.
Food is pretty good just overpriced. However it is a must stop in louisville.
Negative Reviews About ML Are Right On the Money!. Unfortunately, the majority of the negative reviews on this site are true about Mike Linnig’s. I’ve eaten there plenty of times. My last visit was two summers ago. I vowed that I’d never-ever go back. The food and the service was absolutely abhorrent! The batter used to deep fry the fish was tasteless (actually tasteless is an understatement). I mean, how can you make a batter with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. It actually baffles me and somewhat a mystery. Mike Linnig’s over batters their fish, deep fries it, and the end result is nothing more than a huge piece of fried fish with no taste. The last time I ate at this place, I remember drowning my fish in tartar sauce and ketchup just to add flavor. Just shameful. I mean, sheesh— a little salt and pepper goes a long way! Sure the place has been around for almost 100 years and its in a great location with outdoor seating, but all of that surely doesn’t make up for tasteless food. The service was a bit shoddy, but if the food was any good, I’d probably be able to look past the poor, substandard customer service of Mike Linnig’s staff. Another thing that absolutely baffles me is that Mike Linnig’s fancies itself a seafood joint. Ha! The food at this place doesn’t have anything on Red Lobster! ; )The fact that some of these reviews are praising Mike Linnig’s for ”great tasting” food is beyond me! Perhaps those folks just don’t know good cooking with they taste it or grew up in households that served bland food. Either way is just criminal if you ask me.
There is no other place like this. Great food and the outdoor eating area is huge! The seafood plate is my favorite. It easily feeds 2 people.
Always great fish. Best fish in town period. Best outdoor seating in town, bar none. Picnic tables under the huge trees, drinking a beer, doesn’t get any better. Forget the haters who post BS about bland soggy fish. I’ve ate there 20 years, fish always awesome, huge portions. Place is busy as crap, so don’t expect to be coddled by staff. Order your food, grab a beer and enjoy yourself.
