Horrible food. The worst meal I ever have been served at a restaurant. The place was empty on a Friday night should have given that away. Does not deserve to be called German cuisine.

Just Terrible. Have never written a review, no time for it but would like to save others our horrible experience. Seriously, can’t imagine their kitchen would pass health dept inspecyion as the food was so bad it had to be old. They had no ice tea or red wine. The white we settled for was awful. The food was just gross.

Unpalatable. My friend and I LOVE German food and were at Mainstrasse for Ladies Night. We were the only people in the restaurant on a Fri. nite at 6:30pm, I ordered a run and Coke w/ lime – told they were out of limes. Coke was flat. We both ordered schnitzel. Hers ala Holstein with an v. undercooked egg on top-which left much of it inedible. Mine was Champigion- it was dry, crusty and gravy had no flavor. The red cabbage was limp, but worst of all the potato pancakes were inedible. I’ve never met a potato pancake I didn’t like so this was hard to believe- gluey with no sign of shredded potato. I really can’t think of a worse meal I’ve ever had. So sad, because the place is cute looking and the menu SOUNDS appetizing. We had a $25 coupon and still paid $42 for 2 entrees, a beer, a mixed drink and an appetizer. Sadly, the waitress didn’t even comment on our mostly uneaten portions.

Won’t be back….. I brought friends from out of town here for an early lunch on a Saturday. One friend lived in Germany for years and I have visited Germany a couple of times, so we are familiar with German cuisine. One in our group had a Reuben, potato salad and hot slaw and raved about his meal. He absolutely loved it. The rest of us ordered snitzel and did not like it at all. I only ate a few bites of mine. The waitress asked if I wanted it boxed up and I said no thanks. She asked me what the problem was and I said it wasn’t for me. She commented that I must have ordered the wrong thing and should get something else next time. No discount or further concern was offered. Even though the restaurant didn’t seem busy, we sat looking over dirty dishes with no check for what seemed like a long time. Our waitress came back and asked if we wanted anything else. One of my friends told her no, but noted that she forgot to give us our check. The waitress said she was just giving us some time and would get it. I/We won’t be back.

Worst meal ever. I wanted to relieve my German memories so chose here, didn’t as I would normally do check here for reviews!!We were the only people there when we arrive another couple came a little later, the place was tired and not too clean the menus were dog eared, I ordered a Pepsi and Sauerbraten my partner Sauerkraut balls and sausages mit kraut and a glass of Chardonnay. The Pepsi and wine both had a strange taste? no idea what it was, my Sauerbraten was braised beef in a lumpy gravy, i have had this dish many times and even cooked it (I am a European Chef). The Bavarian dumplings were store brought Gnocchi they were luke warm, the red cabbage was old and .unseasoned.My partners Sausages were cold, kudos to the server she overheard he tell me and took them to be reheated the kraut was not home made but in my opinion an inferior purchased item. The sauerkraut balls were burnt dry and not what they should have been they were all bread!!!Still hungry we both ordered strudel, another mistake it was not crisp we found one raisin between us and the predominant taste was lemon, the way it was made was not the traditional way either.I left $50 poorer and a lot wiser, sorry it was the worse meal i have ever eaten in my time in the USA (14 years) As a chef I can honestly understand when things are not quite right, if its busy things can go amiss, on a quite night no excuse at all.

Biggest Letdown Ever. I went here with my aunt for the first time, expecting it to be a nice, fancy restaurant. When I saw the inside was empty and how homey it looked, I then thought it would be a nice family place with decent prices. I was wrong. First I ordered a salad, and when it came I was pretty disappointed. The lettuce was in big chunks, same for the tomato, and it wasn’t even a good sized salad. Next I got the Gypsy Schnitzel (Veal, some sort of sauce, peppers, mushrooms, and a potato pancake). This dinner item was 16 dollars, when the quality of the food screamed 5 dollars. It was bland and the potato pancake was a bit burnt. The only good food they had was the dessert, which isn’t even home made, but frozen. All in all, the food was a big let down, but the service was great. I wouldn’t go there again, though.
