The management is Nepalese. They have good variety of non vegetarian. They have very nice buffet. Only issue is it is very predictable. My favorite entre is Paneer Chili. You can’t go here every time but you will like this place if you are visiting once in 3 months.

Hands down one of the best. Nepalese offerings as well as the usual Indian fare. Try the fish. It’s white fish with an egg and spice wash and perfectly done. Flaky and tender inside and a hint of crisp on the outside. Great and complex flavor profile to the curry that is heavy on the cardamom. Onion chutney is mild and mint chutney delicious. Palak soup great too.

It was OK – not great, but OK. Poppadoms were overcooked to the point of being burned, and the Chicken Tikka Massala was pleasant but dull. Onion Kulcha was good, and the price was improved by the coupons (check out Valpak)Overall not as good as Shalimar or (my favorite) the Taj Palace, so I probably won’t be eating there again….

A friend of mine and I visited Clay Oven for the first time a week ago. He had a GroupOn coupon and we made the best of it. We ordered some Vegetable Samosa, Vegetable Pakora, Naan with some kind of herb on it, Goat Curry, Chicken Chili and Coconut Chicken with some Basmati rice. Everything was great. I did not sample the goat curry and of the three main dishes my friend liked it the least. The chicken chili was so colorful and delicious it may be my new favorite Indian dish. We both liked the coconut curry and my friend liked it the best of the dishes. We had enough left over to both go home with another meal. The atmosphere is delightful and the staff is VERY friendly. Prices are reasonable and next time I hope to try the buffet very soon which our waiter said is VERY good. I am not a novice when it comes to Indian food. I have eaten at several different Indian restaurants and have fared well with many different Indians, most notably a neighbor who makes the best Indian food I ever had. I can now cook Indian food rather well since receiving instruction from this very helpful Indian neighbor. Try the Clay Oven. You will be glad you did. Latest visit: I finally made it to the buffet and not disappointed. There was plenty to choose from; chicken several ways, like tandoori, masala and curry. The fried fish tasted perfect. There was goat curry, 2 kinds of rice, lentel and vegetable dishes which I especially enjoyed the mushroom offering. There was a fabulous soup, naan and Gulab Jamin. My friend also liked their salad which had nuts in it. These are just some of what we found on the buffet and got stuffed. The service is great and atmosphere is wonderful. We noticed the table had nice silver, glass and cloth napkins (nothing chintzy about it), but prices are very affordable. I have been here 3 or 4 times, driving from Indiana. Passing many Indian restaurants on the way. I imagine I will be back. UPDATE: We wrre back! Binod and Krissna did a fantastic job serving our table. All of the staff is extremely courteous, patient and attentive. Our party of 3 couples had 2 chicken currys, a chicken mango, a lamb mango, a coconut chicken and a goat curry which were all excellent. We also had 6 orders of naan, two plain and four garlic which was great. Someone ordered a soup which was also reported to be excellent. All in all, our dining experience easily scores the coveted FIVE STARS. We have been to many Indian restaurants around Louisville countless times, but the Clay Oven seems to be the one we choose most often, even though we travel farthest to get there. The restaurant is also one of the nest in ambiance with white table cloths and red cloth napkins. It is a MUST visit if you like fine Indian cuisine.

Very good, wish it was closer. I had the Chicken Chili and it was amazing. It was quite different too, I liked how it was a change to what I was used too. The Tikka Masala my fiance got was okay, it wasn’t as good as other places and felt like it was missing something. The masala chai tea is amazing, second favorite I’ve had!Only downside was the menu, at least what I’m used too felt a little limited. If they were closer I would visit them more often. If you live out by this, check it out
