Monmouth Gem. If I want Dixie, I’ll get Dixie… but if you want real Newport. Go to Gourmet.

Big Mistake. I read the rave reviews about their chili on The Chili Report blog so I thought I would check it out for myself. It turned out to be a big mistake and I should have just gone to Dixie Chili like I had planned to do. I had a hard time deciding what the chili tasted like (besides cigarettes) because I was the only one in the place not smoking. The reviewers on The Chili Report are nuts. Dixie Chili is way better and you can get chopped garlic on your 3, 4 or 5 way, which is becoming a favorite for me. If you smoke, you’ll love Gourmet Chili. If you don’t, stay away.

Bring cash!!! It’s good but nothing extravagant.

Excellent Chili!. As any good Cincinnatian knows, chili is best served on a formica counter under fluorescent lights. Gourmet Chili nails the classic chili parlor vibe while dishing out some moderately spicy, meaty chili. I ordered my usual: bowl of plain, 1 cheese coney with. The folks at Gourmet Chili aren’t shy with the cheese – my coney came piled high with finely shredded mild cheddar and with a generous slather of mustard on the bun. Color me impressed!

Has good food and cheap prices. I like the hoggy and for $6.00 with fries where can you find that price. The breakfast is cheap and good. Service is friendly and fast.

Very smoky. Non-smokers beware: this friendly little neighborhood diner is a haven for smokers. The food is plentiful and cheap, but vegetarians should note that everything is cooked on the same surface, so the grilled cheese sandwich you order can and will have meat juice residue on it. Probably best to stick with a cold sandwich like egg salad and a side of slaw.

In town for the Bears vs Bengals game so stopped her for breakfast. Food tastes good at a great price. Breakfast special was pretty cheap for a good amount of food that tasted good! Staff was very friendly!!! Go Bears!!!
