Soooooo good! The chocolate milkshake is by far my favorite thing here. It’s amazing!! The Dipper is one of the best places in Owensboro. I love their food and ice cream products.
Went here based on all the rave reviews. I have never been so disappointed. I ordered a double cheese burger and fries. Not sure what they gave me. It had a bun and cheese and some mystery meat I would not feed to an animal. Where I come from burger is a key ingredient in hamburger, they should try it sometime. Also, they don’t take credit or debit. What year is it? Maybe the shakes and dogs are good.? If you are one of the people that wrote a review and said the burgers are great, you need to seriously reconsider your choices in life and expand your horizons.

An institution – I visit each and every time I am back in Owensboro seeing family! Yes, cash only and busy lines, but completely worth it. Patio seating only.Big Dipper’s seasonal chili is top-notch, as is the cheeseburger (always ordered through the garden), the spicy pig (spiced hot dog rolled in pepper jack cheese), the gems (tater tots), the onion rings, the chuckwagon and the malts and shakes (a simple vanilla malt is my favorite).One of my top five restaurants in Owensboro.
I absolutely love this place and I always get my burger through the garden. It’s a typical burger, so health nuts be advised this is not the place to cut carbs or cals.
Typical greasy spoon burger joint. The burgers are o.k. Nothing special. The place makes you feel like you have to hurry. The way the place is set up there are always cars out on the main street waiting to get in.I’m surprised the city has not said something about the danger of blocking the street a lot of times. It’s kind of not worth the danger. People honking horns and giving you stink-eye.
Good stuff.. I visited this restaurant because I had heard good things about the burgers. What I received was a run of the mill frozen patty that was all around average. With that said, my girlfriend talked me into going back for the chili, grilled cheese and a hotdog wrapped in bacon. WOW! Everything was fantastic and easily the best in town. Not sure why they don’t take debit or credit cards; if I had waited in that long line only to find out that only cash is accepted I might have gone ballistic.
