Overrated Chain Food. After hearing people talking about this place like it is the best around, I finally caved and gave it a try. I wasn’t very impressed. The service is average and the menu is extensive and fairly priced. However, cheap isn’t always good. I visited around 8 in the evening and it seemed that the crowds had subdued and I was seated promptly.After browsing the menu a bit, I decided on the chicken and waffles. After waiting about 45 minutes, my food finally arrived and I was more than ready to chow down. I had pretty high expectations for the food due to the constant great comments that I had heard about it…but I was let down. The chicken was very bland tasting and the breading had no flavor whatsoever. The waffles were alright but I received a very small amount of syrup. Upon asking for more syrup, I was brought another incredibly small cup and at this point I just ate the waffles dry.I think that this place has the potential to be something great, but it definitely hasn’t reached that potential. It’s cheap, but not very good. Overall, I give it a 5/10. There are definitely better options in the Owensboro area.
Best in town. Good food quality, inexpensive menu, generous portion size, good menu variety, lively atmosphere, friendly service, kid friendly. This is the best run restaurant in Owensboro because they execute well on all aspects of a restaurant operation. Can’t say that about any other place in the town. Also, they are open later than any other restaurant in town. They are open until 11:00pm which isn’t really late if you’re accustomed to a living in another city but it’s late for Owensboro. I can’t tell you how many times my wife and I have looked for a place to eat a late dinner and have found Cheddars to be the only restaurant open that doesn’t serve waffles. In summary, best all around restaurant in town for any demoraphic.

Delicious. I am always happy with whatever I get here. I usually get the Key West Chicken and Shrimp. They make this special sauce for it and it’s sooooo good. And I love the sides, too. I try to visit whenever I’m in town.
Great Value, Unique Atmosphere.. Cheddars is a great value. My family of 5 ate for $34 total.This included two appetizers.The atmosphere is unique; they have a large beautiful aquarium and a large fan in the main room.On the downside, the hostess and waiter never introduced themselves, but they got the order right and were pleasant.We sat near the kitchen and you could hear all of the cooking equipment beeping constantly.All in all I give it a 4 out of 5.Good value for Owenboro.
Cheddars of Owenboro. We traveled to Cheddars in Owensboro on our motorcycles and parked in the parking lot next to the outside curbing. We went inside for a meal and to have a relaxing time. When we came out side to get on our clean bikes to find out at 4 P.M. in the afternoon they turn on the sprinklers and two of our bikes were completely soaked Who turns sprinklers on when customers are inside and have their vehicles parked there? There were no signs and I for one have concerns for the people running this establishment. If you would like pictures I can send you some as I was totally upset with this. I also witness another gentleman trying to get into his S.U.V. and he could not get in his because the sprinklers were pouring water on the drivers door.
Real OK. I’ve been to Cheddars a few times and have decided that I don’t really like it. It’s certainly not the worst but it’s not that good. There is always a wait and that’s fine if the wait is worth it. In this case, it is not. They do serve pretty large portions but I don’t want a large serving of bad food. The prices are reasonable. The last time I tried the fish tacos and they were awful. I love fish tacos (when I am on the coast) but the Chedders version was awful. I understand that it was a stretch to think that they would be good but ordered them anyway because nothing else sounded good. No one at our table had a good meal. The server was slow and he forgot to serve us our salads. He really did not seem to care either. I won’t go back there again. Blah!
