Favorite bar-b-q….with a caveat. I really like the barbeque sandwiches here, but you have to put a lot of sauce on it or it is too dry. And the sauce is pretty hot. The hickory flavor really comes through though.
OK, nothing more. Starnes is an institution in Paducah, but I’ve never tasted anything special about it. The mild sauce is pretty good, with just a bit od kick, but the pulled pork always seems a little dry, and not for lack of sauce.
Ugh nasty. If you like frozen hamburger patties. Actually I’m not sure they were actually hamburger. The sandwiches were nasty. Bad BBQ no sauce don’t bother save your money Yuk nasty
Classic Hickory Smoked BBQ. It’s the BBQ I grew up with and still prefer (with east NC being a close second.). As a kid 40 years ago, it was the favorite place on my paper route; could smell the smoke from blocks away. Don’t expect anything slathered in sauce, that would only mask the natural taste. The classic sandwich is great with a toasted bun and three shakes of their hot sauce. If you want to feed an army, suggest ordering a whole shoulder.
The Best!. Starne’s BBQ is one of the best in this area (the other two being Harned’s and Kountry Kastle). When I moved to Texas several years ago, I couldn’t wait to try the infamous Texas BBQ. Boy was I disappointed! I was raised on the pulled pork around here and spoiled I guess. Starnes was one of the first places I had to hit once I moved back. Their sauce is amazing and I use it in my own homemade bbq sauce and it’s great on grilled chicken.
My grandpa used to take me to starnes. We would sit at the bar and eat BBQ on toast. This place has soul.
The defacto standard for bar-b-q. I have lived in Paducah all my life and have had bbq from many different places and have never found better. They are in the same green concrete block nuilding they have been since the beginning and is always a treat to go in and see just who you will run into.
