Came through town and found this tasty gem! Wasn’t disappointed at all! Was even better than I imagined! Unfortunately now I’m in a food coma! People who work there were super friendly!
Mehhh… not very good. Brisket wasn’t properly trimmed. Beans were bland. BBQ sauce wasn’t very tasty. Maybe I’ve been spoiled with St. Louis BBQ.
Went for dinner around 6pm. The juicy slab of brisket was taunting me from the moment I walked in the door, it was pretty good. The ribs were a bit dry, like they had been sitting around for a bit, not so good. The service was great, presented with friendly smiles. Will come back if I’m in the area.
THERE’S SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT HERE…. Visited 4/7/2015 – as with any stop at a new barbecue joint, I stick with the mainstay, the pulled (or chopped) pork platter. Today’s sides were fries and cole slaw (additional garnished items onions, pickles, jalapenos, and cornbread muffin) and sweet tea to drink. The pulled pork was sauced up (too much) and mushy–it reminded me of the frozen pork barbecue my wife sometimes buys. Fries were steak fries style and cold. The slaw was mayo-based, not bad, but not a lot of zing. I recommend adding a splash of vinegar to help it a bit. The muffin was cold and tough (I know this sound stupid, but I’ve never had cornbread that was tough either, but it’s the best way to describe it). The sweet tea was excellent.I didn’t see anyone in the kitchen prepping or cooking, so it leads me to believe that the food came off the foodservice supply truck and merely warmed for service. I’ve eaten Texas barbecue…and this is NOT it.
Good Q. Not a bad little barbecue place. I had the chopped chicken sandwich with fries. The barbecue sauce at the tables was good, but not the best. Definitely an authentic restaurant.
The absolute favorite of a 16 year old picky eater.. I live less than a mile a way from this place and every week coming home we stop at this place. The beef brisket is incomparable, no restaurant, not even Famous Daves can beat it. The staff is young but very friendly, then again, I know all of them as they are my friends. Best friends with the owners daughter and the owner knows what he is doing when it comes to BBQ.
Really Good. My wife and I drove out to try the place Thursday evening, it is the second exit into Shelbyville if you are coming from Louisville. Yes, it does have a metal door that bangs a lot. We entered and found two teens working the order counter. The person ahead of us had ordered a family box to go. One of the kids pulled a wonderful looking chunk of beef brisket out of the warming box. He started cutting the meal and I wanted to grab a piece of that wonderful looking meat really bad. The other teen asked me if he could help us, yes, give me some meat. I ordered the rib plate and for two dollars more you could have another meat, I ordered some brisket. I was served three meaty ribs and lots of brisket, with this came two sides. I had the cole slaw, really good and beans, ok,. My wife also ordered brisket but they said there was not enough for an order left so she got the pork loin. We went into the dining room and I could not wait to get into the ribs and brisket. The ribs were wonderful as well as the brisket, they could have been a bit warmer. My wifes pork was lukewarm and dry, so I said have some of my brisket, I have more than enough. We both loved the brisket, nice char on the outside. Next time we want bar b que, this is the place we will drive out for not only good food but a nice drive in the country. Another plus, the gas was fourty cent a gallon cheaper than in Louisville. Enjoy.
