The Best of Shelbyville. I used my Groupon for a Saturday lunch. The service was wonderful, the food delicious, especially the hot water cornbread. They set the standard for fine dining southern style.
Great food – Service Sad. My husband and I went to have lunch at the Science Hill this afternoon. I have been before, he had not. I got my usual hot brown and it was delicious, he got the Fried Chicken. He liked the chicken but thought the sides were lacking. The food was not the problem. As soon as we were seated, our waiter just spoke to us and treated us like we weren’t worth waiting on. We observed him waiting on the other tables, he doted on every other group of people there but left us waiting for refills of our drinks and didn’t once stop by to ask us how we were. After we finished our food it took him a long time to bring the check and an even longer time to take our card. It was just bad service. The food was fine, but we won’t be making the trip down to Shelbyville ever again after this experience. What a shame!
Great. We don’t get to go often, but every time we’ve been the service has been outstanding and the food has not disappointed. For lunch, the shrimp and grits is a usual favorite here. Recommend making reservations to avoid waiting.
Worth a Visit. If you’ve not been before, it’s worth a visit. The food has always been consistently good but expect a strange throw-back-in-time dining experience with black waitstaff. Their Sunday brunch price is an exercise in delusional grandeur–nowhere near worth the price.
Great Dining Experience!. Science Hill Inn is one of the best southern dining experiences I have ever had. From the Hot Brown to the Hot Water Biscuits, Greens, Potatoes and tremendous Tomato soup we enjoyed every bite. The brown sugar pie is worth the trip. I can’t wait to go back! Restaurant open times are located on web site. Thank you to the wait staff and chef for making this a great dining experience.
A Kentucky Classic. My husband I have been patrons of this restaurant for almost 30 years. The food is always excellent and the service suburb. The prices are very reasonable for such excellent fare served on linen cloths with waiters who still wear tuxedos! If you want traditional Kentucky cuisine served in an elegant country setting…this is your place. It is one of Kentucky’s finest in our opinion.
Never open?!. I’d love to try it….but it never seems to be open. weird. we gave up.
