Very Nice. I always enjoy meals at the Bards Town and especially like the Steak Oscar. Affordable with more than satisfactory service,

Way, way better now! We h…. Way, way better now!We had 3 appetzetrs, the beer cheese, the corn cakes and the empanadas. Each offered a tasty version of a classic pub appetizer, done very cleanly and served promptly with a smile. Our entrees set the bar still higher, with burgers done precisely as requested and a custom mac’n’cheese order taken and delivered spot on. We came for the theater, but will be backfor the food

Great atmosphere, not so great food. Aaagh…it pains me to write this review because I love the atmosphere at The Bardstown. I’ve been several times and have tried several items from the menu. Each time I have been highly disappointed with the food even though I really, really want to like it. The chicken sandwich is plain and dry, the crab cakes are deep fried disks that look like something you get at a fast food restaurant, the vegetable puff pastry is a pile of soupy, mushy vegetables poured over a small, overly-saturated puff pastry. They used to have a falafel sandwich that they had the wisdom to remove from the menu. Their signature spicy pasta dish is just okay. Now in all fairness, several of my family members love the mac and cheese, the skirt steak, and the homemade salad dressing. I also should acknowledge that I have only tried the veggie, fish and chicken dishes so maybe beef/pork is the way to go. I also have not been back to eat since they made some menu changes.

I love the Bards Town!. The food is amazing. the service is great and the drinks are ALWAYS good and come quick. The grilled veggies are to die for! I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu and there is not a false not one it. I love the variety you get and you can also see may great performances there. Love it and and a faithful patron!

Addendum. To add to my previous review, not everything was bad. We were there around 6pm on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was pretty empty. Our service was good, although our waitress was a little shy and seemed nervous… which was odd because she ended up being in the play we saw. Anyway, the service was good, and our food came out quickly and was hot. Too bad it didn’t taste good :-/30 Aug, 2011Stick to drinks & theater!. After checking out The Bard’s Town’s menu online, I was so excited to try it. There were so many vegetarian options, and we were going there to see a friend’s play anyway. I ordered the Veggie Tower of London, and it was disgusting. The vegetables did not pair well together, and they were drowning in an abundance (too much!) of marinara sauce and some sort of green sauce (pesto maybe?). The puff pastry was hidden at the bottom and soggy to the point of being inedible. Honestly, this dish reminded me of something I (an untrained chef) might see on Food Network and try to recreate at home with no idea what I was doing… And it wasn’t cheap at $15. I was highly disappointed, and although my salad was good, I probably will not eat at The Bard’s Town again.

The Bard’s Town. What a great little restaurant addition to Bardstown Rd. – especially the live music/theater aspect of it. The bison burger there is delicious, as well as the chicken satay appetizer. Very friendly servers, great service. Cool place to support local business, music, and art!

Excellent Local Restaurant. I’ve eaten at the Bard’s Town several different times and tried many different entrees. I must say it’s always a pleasure to eat there. The Filet-dy MacBeth is my favorite entree – steak is always cooked perfectly and the Claire’s mac & cheese is divine! The menu has a good variety at an affordable price and the atmosphere can’t be beat. Staff is friendly and the entertainment is top-notch. Definitely one of my favorite local eateries!
