Not a Mexican Rest.. Although this place does serve Mexican food, this is NOT their strong point. The Mexican food is not very good, what this place does do well is steak.Don’t bother with the tacos, get the ribeye and grilled veg. and you will leave happy.
Unbelievable!!!!. Myself and 5 co-workers went here for lunch on Thursday, 9/26/13. To start, the waitress appeared to have something wrong with her. She asked us if we were in a hurry. We all replied that were were, because we only had an hour for lunch. She then went to a table that had just seated 5 men and took their order. We had already been at our table for 10 minutes. She came to refill drinks, and finally took our order. After 50 minutes of stale chips a mediochre salsa, we finally inquired about our order and stated that we would need to go boxes. She promptly brought out our COLD food. I asked for the manager, and she told the waitress to comp our table 50%. She brought the tickets, and stated she had comped 25% since we ordered to go. Well, we didn’t order to go, the service was so poor that in order to even have a meal, we had to take the food to go. The manager was very unprofessional as well. The waitress appeared as if she wanted to brawl. On top of everything else, they added in gratuity. I didn’t pay, left my uneaten food and walked out. The rest of my co-workers paid and tipped a waitress that wouldn’t even pass McDonald’s standards. Stay away unless you enjoy very poor customer service and food.
Horrible food. Cold chips. Charge for refills. No service from staff. Never again.
DON’T DO IT!!! Worst Mexican I’ve ever had. Service is really bad and Margiritas are nasty.

Recommend Going, Well Somewhat…. I have been going to El Camino’s since I was just a little child. Unfortunately as a kid, I was an extremely picky eater and the only thing I would ever order was their Chips-N-Cheese off the appetizers, with a Cherry Coke. My family would go every Friday night religiously. As I grew older I did faze out of my picky stage and moved on to better items, which I loved. All this happened at their old location downtown. Once they moved to the current spot, it always seemed to me like the quality of the food went downhill, as well as the ambiance. The old spot had something special about it. The new just doesn’t have it. I have tried many of their menu items over the years since the move, and they just don’t hold up to the days of old. Their ground meat lacks flavor and is very dry. Dishes like the Taco Salad, Tostada Deluxe, and any Burrito, for instance, are all practically ruined thanks to the ground meat. Also, the salad bar is rather pathetic looking. So basically, from a Mexican food standpoint, they really are not worth the time and money. Unless we are talking about the Chips-N-Cheese, which is still great. That may actually be me talking nostalgically though. If you do go down the Mexican route, I would go with anything that doesn’t contain ground meat, then its not so bad. Although, there is still one thing worth taking a trip there, the steaks. They still have one of the best steaks you can get anywhere in Acadiana. Their Ribeyes are seasoned and cooked to perfection and taste just amazing. Now, when I go with my family, it is the only thing any of us usually order. A few exceptions would be items off their grilled section of the menu, which are definitely worth trying. The service the last few times seemed to be lacking just a bit as well, I had to practically beg for each refill. Overall, if you are looking for good Mexican, I recommend not going to El Camino’s. But if you are looking for one of the best steaks anywhere around, or decent grilled options, I definitely recommend going to El Camino’s.
I would say it’s more Cajun/Mex than anything. The Rita’s were great. A little pricey for Mexican food but good stuff. I had the steak, chicken, and shimp fajitas. Tasty! Service was ok but the food was good. I’d go back if friends wanted to. There’s a good Mex restaurant on every corner so I don’t have to drive to Abbeville.
