This is the real deal seafood restaurant! I had the seafood salad which was 6 oysters, 6 jumbo shrimp, an a big bunch of crawfish tails all of which was fried over a plane lettuce salad. I was hungry but was unable to finish the lettuce as there was so much seafood! The next table had oysters on the half shell an I don’t know how they could get those huge oysters down! Not cheap but quite easily the best seafood I have ever had.
Grilled oysters. The BEST oysters I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten a LOT of oysters!! Try the Shrimp Remoulade for a different spin on a shrimp salad/appetizer, wonderful. And the onion rings with the homemade tarter sauce, you’ll NEVER use ketchup again.
OUTSTANDING!. Shucks was what one can only explain as an experience you don’t want to miss! We started our meal with the oysters supreme and they were by far the best we have ever had. Can’t say enough good things!

Don’t hink I have enough time to rave about this place. Had all the oysters! Every one was better/different than the next. The owner came out and spent time with us, gave this Yankee plenty of samples – thank you by the way! – and we had good service too. And it was crowded for a Tuesday nite till 8:30. touffe, gumbo, and the fried shrimp with the sassy sauce – well that might have been the best of all. (Bought some sassy sauce to take home!). Different char broiled than Acme Oyster, and they know it. They make them how they want – just right. Go there!!
If you’e looking for the crowd…. Have dined here several times. Those looking for the crowd need look no further. Service is good and the food is adequate, although not great. There are better choices nearby.
For the price, we won’t be back. We understand the prices are on par with all the other seafood restaurants in the Lafayette area, but the food at Shucks is beyond bland. I don’t like a lot of spice, but seriously, there was NO flavor in anything. We tried gumbo, salad, and fried oysters and grilled shrimp with potato salad. There was not one item that had a good taste. Not terrible, just not good.
