I have been to Embers twice. Once was for dinner on a weekday and the second time was brunch on Sunday. The first time I was pretty excited to try the downtown restaurant. This was Feb of 2016, fairly recently. I ordered the poached salmon and my partner ordered a specialty pizza. My salmon was very small and was just slapped in a bowl of raw spinach. Bam. Thats it. The pizza was so greasy that it was barely consumable. How disappointing! 18$ for a personal pizza and it was convenient store quality. I wrote this poor experience off as an off night and deiced to give them another shot about 2 weeks later for brunch. We ordered the veggie tacos, they were good besides the fact that they were on raw COLD corn tortillas. EW. The calzone was doughy and raw in the middle. So, yeah. Embers is all style with no substance. Don’t waste your money till they get a better chef. On a positive note, the waitress was a doll and very sweet.
I’ve eaten here once and it was a great experience! Can’t wait to go back! Ordered the charcuterie board….which was amazing!! Loved the cheeses and meats. I had the caprese salad and that was another winner. I tried the margherita pizza and the butcher. Both were great!!
Another fine lunch at Embers. The farmstead calzone is excellent as is the dunkel. Service is paced, sometimes slightly slower than I prefer but never rushed. Highly recommend a visit if your are the neighborhood.
Hands down the best pizza in Alexandria! Also a great addition to the downtown area. Great atmosphere, friendly staff good hours. A definite top 5 place to eat!01 Mar, 2015The Godfather and a New Belgium Porter. AMAZING!!!
Great place, great spot. Atmosphere, food, it’s all right at Embers, in my opinion. A primo addition to downtown Alexandria, right around the corner from places I already frequent.
