I am very happy to report that there are several gluten free options! I ordered the chicken penne gorgonzola with gluten free penne pasta. I enjoyed the dish. The pasta sticks to together somewhat, but I am learning that is somewhat typical of gluten free pastas.
Sweet tea anyone?. Today 5/13/15 we had lunch at the Alexandria location there was about 20 of us. Just about everyone ordered sweet tea. One by one everyone tasted, tasted again and we started looking at each other and asked did you get sweet tea? When the waiter came back some didn’t want to ask but several of us did did we get sweet tea or unsweetened? He looked as if we was Confused. Oh no it sweet was his reply. Five of us stated if this Is sweet tea please bring us something else. He volunteered to bring sweeter to help the taste. Really? Everyone just pushed the tea glasses aside. Who can’t make sweet tea? Or why do you think fifteen people had the same question or problem with the same item?
The Worst. I have eaten at hundreds and hundreds of restaurants during my 50 years and I can honestly say that I have NEVER had worse service than I did at Johnny Carios in Alexandria, La. yesterday. I have never taken the time to write a bad review on any restaurant, but I certainly think this one is warranted!
Gluten Free. I’ve been to Johnny Carino’s before and have had excellent food and service, so I’m not going to give it an entirely negative review. However, gluten free patrons use caution. They have an entire gluten free menu which is fantastic, hooray for Johnny Carino’s. But make sure the wait staff and the kitchen are communicating with each other, because my entire family ordered off the gluten free menu and all of us received regular gluten containing food. Unfortunately my kids and I had already eaten some before we realized the mistake. So now we are in for a day or two of painful illness while we wait for this to pass through our systems.
Went during lunch. Service was swift but intrusive-waitress gave impression she was trying to rush us, tried to remove plated from table before we were through eating.Got chicken parm. The sauce was bland and very small portionof spaghetti.
My chicken has been raw twice! Enough said!
Thursday night ribs. Good flavor and texture, served with shoestring fries. BBQ sauce is balsamic base, very good. Large portions at a fair price. 2 meals with tax, tip, and drinks – $30
