Great pit stop on our way to Dallas. Chicken & sausage gumbo was delish, just the right amount of spice. The family loved the homemade pork cracklins too. No indoor seating – walk up or drive thru only & no bathrooms. Place was packed with locals. We’ll definitely stop in again on our way back through.

Love the tamales. I have had the tamales and cracklings several times but reading the other reviews makes we want to try more. I will be back.

This is one of those places you drive by and think hmmmm that looks very down home. And then one day you get up the nerve to try it and wonder what took you so long. I have had both the cochin d’lait and BBQ beef po boy. Both were excellent. The pickle they use is a nice twist. The topper is the cracklin’. Your cardiologist would hate you but they are worth it…very addictive.

Awesome sandwiches. I tried several items here but by far the best item is the cochon de lait sandwich or poboy! It comes with lots of delicious tender pulled pork with BBQ sauce, pickles, and onions (I got it WITHOUT pickles and onions) and is then pressed. It was delicious! The boudin balls and boudin links are good and the hot tamales are also really good.

Little gem but not for everyone. Great tamales here and the lines at the drive up and walk up were long in anticipation of lunch on a cold day. Lots of people were getting the gumbo but I had the tamales, which I had sampled at a friend’s home awhile back. They didn’t disappoint. This is a take-away place only–no place to sit at all there. But many people were commenting on the gumbo and cracklings and it seems they have a pretty dedicated following among locals.
