Not what I expected, but I liked it!. Excellent food, friendly service, fairly priced… The little spicy chicken over pork fried rice is to die for and I love the egg drop soup as well.
Sushi does not taste fresh. This place has gone down in last few years. The building and sign need repairs and it’s been that way for years. Service is good but I wish the food was better.
My husband and I used to eat here quite a bit a couple years ago, so we tried it again recently. No real changes to the inside, or to the menus despite the fact that both of ours appeared to have seen better days and mine had entries taped in that his didn’t. We ordered sushi and a lunch bento box to share. He got soup and I ordered the chef’s special salad which I remembered as being amazing. The soup was one of the worst we’ve had at any Japanese restaurant and while the salad wasn’t terrible, it was nowhere near what it used to be. A little on the dry side and lacking in flavor. The bento box was an absolute joke. No seasoning whatsoever to anything. Another negative for us was that they now charge if you ask for spicy mayo! We weren’t told this and I’ve never had a Japanese restaurant charge for that, so I asked for it and the waiter brought it. I happened to notice the charge on our bill. On a positive note, the sushi was fantastic, and the only saving grace for this place, but it’s not enough. I’ll just head to Mikado’s in Pineville and enjoy every bit of my meal there rather than have the hit or miss this place has become.
Wonderful Japanese restaurant with great sushi, sashimi, and kitchen dishes. Service is generally, ask for Tony by name. He’s a star. And David makes the most amazing margarita from scratch – no mix, all fresh! Highly recommended.
Wonderful sushi, the best on town.. Ive eaten sushi all over the world. This place does not disappoint. Skip the overrated Hana Japanese Steakhouse and come here instead.
I really love sushi so I wanted try this place. It was super busy so I thought it must be great. It took much longer than I had expected to get seated and served but our server was really sweet. I got the Steve roll and would not recommend it to some one who doesn’t like cream cheese. Overall ok experience.26 Jan, 2014The staff was friendly but way too busy. It took quite a long time to be seated. I took that as a good sign thinking that the food must be exceptional. Once seated we requested high chairs for the two toddlers with us. Twenty minutes later our very nice waitress brought us warm cloths for our hands. Still no high chairs, though. She went away and swiftly returned with both chairs in tow. We had plenty of time by this point to know what we wanted and placed our orders. The yakitori was ok although I was expecting the traditional Japanese street vendor version of thin strips of chicken rather than big chunks. The sushi is too big to eat the way it was intended (one piece at a time eaten whole). It was very loud but overall not a bad experience. I would give it another chance but not on a Sarurday night.
Best service in town! Sushi is pretty good too!
