First time in the US and greeted by this amazing place! Closeness to the campus is a bonus. French fries with blue cheese and shredded pork is just amazing. And, of course, beer to go with it.To sum it up, a successful first friday night!

It’s restaurant week in Baton Rouge, so my friends and I decided to try Barcadia for the first time. We all knew that it was bar food, but we didn’t realize how terrible everything about the restaurant would be! When we arrived, there was no hostess, so we stood around awkwardly waiting for someone to seat us. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, and most of the customers were seated at the bar. From the start, the waitress was a mess. She took our orders so spaced apart even though we were all ready, and we had to go to the bar multiple times for napkins and to bring our empty glasses back because she was nowhere to be found. Next, the portion sizes were ridiculously small. We ordered cheese curds and fried pickles, and she said that the fried pickles were apart of the restaurant week menu, so we had to order my entire meal all at once. Both appetizers were small and overly greasy. Shortly after our appetizers came out, (not even at the same time) my entree came out. Not everyone else’s-just mine. For the next hour, the rest of the entrees began to pour out of the kitchen, completely sporadically and sometimes cold. One would think the first lesson in being a waitress is to take all of the orders at the same time and then bring them all at the same time! Not flounce away in ones skimpy shorts to attend to other business while we are waiting to order. As the entrees came out of the kitchen, we urged our friends to eat because there was no telling when the next one would be delivered. Finally, my friend had been waiting for her burger for over and hour and caught the attention of the waitress. She kindly explained to her to cancel her order because the rest of the party was done eating and her food had not even been delivered. The waitress told her she couldn’t do that because her food was ready….well where was it?! My friend continued to persist that she wanted to cancel the order. The waitress called over the manager who was actually very kind and understanding and proceeded to bring my friend’s food out in a to go box and not charge her for it. She then gave us half price appetizer coupons in the hopes that we would come back. We are never going back. In addition to the terrible food and service, the bathrooms were horrific! They were so filthy. Needless to say, this place won’t be around much longer.

I gave this place 3 chances before writing a review. My first experience was alright. Great food, but bad service. The last time I went it was horrible. I started with fried pickles. They were soaked in grease and barely cooked. It made my stomach hurt after eating a few. Then I got my burger. It would have been pretty good, but the sauteed onions were also soaked in grease and it was very off putting. Also, they pretty much cut their menu in half. Everyone there besides us had kids, so I guess they’re trying to become like a chuck e cheese where parents can get beer and bad food. I won’t be coming back.

Was seated then left alone. Waited 20 minutes for a server. The restaurant is not busy, 3 tables. Finally another waitress came and got our drink order. I Ordered a mimosa, but the bar doesn’t have OJ (weird considering they serve brunch no?)…so we got 2 draft beers. The bartender put them on the bar and they sat for a good 5 minutes. At that point I stood up and just got them myself and brought them back to the table. Finally our actual waitress decided to grace us with her presence. Food hasn’t come out yet but even if it’s life changing and gives me super powers, I will not be back.

Service was TERRIBLE… seriously it was near empty when we went so it’s not like our waitress was even that busy. Our table was sticky and so was the floor underneath. The ladies room was dirty and the men’s room was ok. Their burgers and fries are really good. But if you don’t eat burgers your options are pretty limited. Don’t even bother with the grilled cheese – it’s horrible. Ours came out with the cheese barely melted and the onions were raw. The price tag is insulting– $10 with a $2.50 upcharge to add mushrooms and RAW onions.
