I really need to respond to the review by Cherie. Girl I’m not sure how much food you expect for you $$$ but my super brisket plate was incredible. I forced myself to eat it all because it was so dang good. Now my belt undone and I’m ready for a nap. And it was under $10 bucks.03 Oct, 2014Great BBQ. I had a nice portion of brisket , greens , and baked beans. Everything was great. Excellent smokey meat, peppery beans , nice big piece o toast n a little hunk o bread putting to satisfy that sweet tooth. All for under 10 bux. That’s not bad these days
Really moist, great barbecue. Got the 3-combination meat plate (we got brisket, chicken, and pork) with rice dressing & baked beans. All delicious. Comes with a little square of bread pudding that is to-die-for. Reasonably priced, too.
Bar none – the best. It’s one of the best in the Baton Rouge area. I have no complaints, only raves. You must try the cracklings, there’s none better.

Traditional Southern Style. You’re in for a real treat at this local eatery. Just follow your nose as you near the restaurant. The aroma of smoking meat fills the air for a mile in any direction. Deep South is popular with all classes of patrons. Eat in or carry outs are available from an extensive menu of goodies. The great thing about the place is that everything is made in house, both meats & big selection of side dishes. You can also FAX a message to be picked up later. There are plates, samplers & special party packs…even BBQ meats by the pound! Sandwiches & po boys, too, dressed & undressed. This is BBQ heaven, so, be an angel & drive out soon. It’s close to the BR Airport. Why not pick up a Family Feast on the way into town? Deep South is open from 11:00am-7:00pm, Tues. thru Fri. & Sat. from 11:00am-3:00pm. This is finger lickin’ good, y’all! Don’t wait to try one of the best.
