Diamond in the rough. This was just by chance I stopped in for lunch. Amazed at the fresh quality of food. They deveined and prepared seafood as you watch. Fresh, the oyster and shrimp po boy were incredible, perfect fry, crispy and moist. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everything prepared fresh as you watch, incredible flavor. I will be back soon, hard to find such a great place for fresh food. Thanks again.

Deja Vu. Downtown Baton Rouge seems to have two types of restaurants: looks impeccable/good food & hasn’t been remodeled since 1955/good food. Downtown Seafood definitely fits the second. In fact, I’m pretty sure Riverside Patty’s somewhere in its family tree (as backhanded as that sounds, I actually mean it as a compliment).But let’s not distract from the food. In keeping with my makes-no-sense selection style, I went to Downtown Seafood and ordered a 1/2 lb. burger. It had a nice grill-char exterior, no frills, straight up, no chaser. Anything that fills me up, tastes fine (I wasn’t woo’ed but it wasn’t bad), and keeps it under $6 (esp. downtown), gets a gold star in my book.
BEST BURGER EVER!. For all you Live After Five people! 8 bucks gets you the best POUND of meat hamburger- fries AND a drink! I haven’t had anything else but the burger bc its that good – but a friend got shrimp once and she liked it.
