Best Buritto Ever!. My husband and I ate there about a month ago with a group of friends who invited us. We didn’t know what to expect, but we can’t stop talking about the Fried Beef Burrito! It is hands down the best burrito we’ve tasted in Baton Rouge! We’re ordering again for pick up so that our children can experience the same Great Taste! Truly Authentic!!DEW

Nothing Else Compares. I am starving just THINKING about the guacamole and enchiladas…and OH the avocado salad! And have I mentioned the AMAZING margaritas?! This place has been on the map for 50 years for a REASON. And Raul is the TOPS! (Meet him, you will adore him). El Rio is the best. You will feel like family and you will be super WELL FED.

El Rio Grande, how do I love thee?. Let me count the ways…I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I started coming here regularly when LaFonda’s closed, and I was looking for that same low-key, family feel. I didn’t expect to fall in love with it!I am treated like a member of the family by the staff, who are all pleasant and friendly. No surliness here! Raul, who owns the place and does the cooking, will do anything reasonable to make his customers happy. Want a special beer? He’s on it. Want your enchiladas cooked a special way? No problem. Raul’s dad, Mr. Joe, makes the rounds to all the tables and greets each customer with a friendly smile and handshake. His sister, Grace, waits on customers, and she, along with Courtney, Cammie, Jill, and Jeff make you feel like you’re eating dinner at your own home while never taking you for granted.Great food and great margaritas (and for you LaFonda’s folks, Raul will make a LaFonda’s style margarita on request). Beyond the food though, it’s a great family and a place where you can just be yourself. Come be a part of it!

Really enjoyed it. Well, actually I went there maybe 8 years ago, but I was looking to try something different so I went back last night. I really enjoyed it. I loved their chips salsa and guacamole and really could have made an entire meal out of that. For my entree I ordered the enchiladas con huevos, which included 3 cheese and onion enchiladas smothered in chili gravy and 2 over easy eggs. It was a greasy, gastronomic mess, but I really liked it. For dessert I tried the chocolate chimichanga, which was a fried chimichanga filled with chocolate and peanuts, served with whipped cream and strawberries. Delicious. I also liked the old-school feel of the place. It was pretty dead for a Saturday night, maybe 4 or 5 tables were full at any given time, and there were only 2 waitresses working which made the service somewhat lacking, but overall I liked it. I’m not a big fan of Mexican food but this will definitely be my once a year go-to spot when I get a hankering for it.

AMAZING!!!!!. I have been here several times over the years and I have always liked it. Tonight I went and had the best experience yet! The food was and always is amazing! Best authentic Mexican food! The wait staff is always outgoing and will do anything necessary to please you! Tonight, we had fajitas, a variety of enchiladas, and sopapillas. They were all exceptional! The waiter was the best waiter I have ever had at any restaurant! Great experience!!!!
