Skimpy. Ordered an oyster sandwich at $7, had 4 small oysters under my bread. Bowl of gumbo is flavorful with good spice and dark roux, but expensive at about $9. Simply overpriced for what is essentially a lunch spot for local offices.

LAME. Went at 5 o clock for dinner come to find out after we ordered our drinks, that all they had was a pathetic partial menu between 2-6pm ….Look if you are going to be open be open for business not partial business. Had to pack up and leave to find somewhere who is actually fully open for dinner when the doors are open. and also was asked by the waiter to pay for the tea we ordered even though we had no intention of drinking them since we were leaving and would not have ordered if they told us when we got there about this partial menu thing….sorry hawks nest I wont be back after that experience.

Wasn’t impressed.. I saw the spectacular reviews on this site about the restaurant, so my S.O and I decided to try it out..as we’ve began to make a nice habit of eating lunch together every Thursday. We went in around 1pm..right after the lunch rush so I really didn’t expect it to be packed. He ordered the fried oyster platter and I had half shrimp/half oysters. My first complaint was that there wasn’t any cocktail sauce..they apparently didn’t stock it at all. The second would be that the hushpuppies were rolled in flour…which made it taste dry. The oysters however, were quite good! Nice and juicy, but my shrimp were completely dead..overcooked and the breading wasn’t all that seasoned. I felt like every bite had to be washed down, even when trying to use the tartar sauce (Still surprised there wasn’t any cocktail sauce…and disappointed). I’m sure there are people who quite enjoy this place..but I don’t think I’ll be giving it another go.

Fried Shrimp Remoulade & Seafood Gumbo. This was my first time eating there and ordered a cup of Gumbo and the Fried Shrimp Remoulade. They were 2 very good choices. The gumbo was nice and thick with a lot of shrimp and spicy. The remoulade sauce was great and the fried shrimp were large and fried perfectly. We will definately be going back to enjoy more of what they have to offer.

So spectacular. Went recently with my husband and I had the half oyster/half shrimp plater which comes with hush puppies, salad and french bread. The seafood was fried perfectly and a very tasty cruchy batter – most delicious. the fries were very good, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was all very delicious and we will be going back. You can’t beat the prices either. My seafood plate was only $11!

I have been eating Shrimp Remoulade from Hawk’s Nest since the mid-seventies. Have not found one better anywhere!
